Totally agree with this. It's not Inside the NBA, but at least it's watchable now. I actually switched from Nets/Bulls to NBA Countdown.

What's bogging down the show is the force-feeding of segments like you said, but that's ESPN's style. They're not gonna let analysts freelance like on TNT. Simmons also has to stop trying to get a word every time after Doug or Jalen say something.

But they have something to build on. There's a semblance of chemistry and structure that was never there when Magic Johnson and Wilbon were around. It's okay to not bring as many laughs as ITN, as long as you tell me something I didn't already know. That's happening now.

BTW their new intro is MAD cheesy. Jalen and Bill walking with explosions going on in the background.

Cosign to the fullest. THe only problem I have with the show is that it feels to scripted and not natural at all. When a conversation develops organically and starts getting good they have to cut it off and move to the next topic. They need to go into a show with far less topics that they must touch on. Maybe have a list of stuff to cover if things get slow and they need to move on. But they definitely shouldn't be cutting off the deeper convos.

sage steele needs to go.... i like doug collins, but rather him doing games. i dont like the way jalen talks. simmons sounds like a little bytch so i dont like him either.

they need to bring in bill walton or something.... steve snapper jones, and the gawd tom tolbert

It took TNT ~10 years to develop that chemistry where they pretty much are allowed to do whatever they want because of being on at 2AM in the morning and not worrying about structure or sponsors. Disney/ABC is never going to allow a mid-afternoon/prime time show get away with what TNT has been allowed to do. That stupid race Kenny/Cwebb had a few weeks ago would had never happened on espn or abc because corporate would have made sure it was sponsored and choreographed and they couldn't be sued...
