Stop it.

This is false.

ADOS have every right to boycott a actress who is xenophobic and hateful to them and their ancestors.

And if we find out anyone does that -- Black or White - we do not support.

The actress is not bigger than the film and the importance of seeing these historical figures on screen. You are off code. If the movie flops it wont be on the actress. It will be a blow to funding of future movies with similar black subject matter and black historical figures.

Yall hated on birth of a nation too and didnt support it for the same silly reasons like he didnt kill enough white folk and yall tired of slave movies. There was big thread on here. There wont be another nat Turner movie financed and in theaters anytime soon. More kids will be uninformed of their history.

Yes - it is. It's like allowing a White Supremacist to play your ancestors in Black face. We good.

I rather not have one at all -- if the person playing an ancestors thinks and believes me and my people are nothing -- oh "akatas."

I didn't hate on anything. I supported and saw Birth of a Nation -- and MANY Black Americans/ADOS did as well. Hence -- the money it did make -- was made from ADOS. Let's keep it real.

And I ain't tired of anything -- I support all ADOS stories - that includes movies about our ancestors experience.

You were never on-code -- and you are bias towards Black American/ADOS over your Nigerian side. You have shown it over and over. So, I don't expect you to understand -- nor care. ADOS/Black Americans being disrespected is the norm for you.

There will be more opps for films and proper representation. And it's up to ADOS/Black Americans to teach the children in our lives their history. I refuse to let the children in my family support and see a film that portrays their ancestors and history -- by someone who sees them as less than and nothing.

*white woman leans her head on her white husband's shoulder*

"Aw dear, those were the good ol' days"

"Sure is, mah lady. I would've owned a football roster full of slaves":smugbiden:

You are NOT good. The problem is some of yall are in denial about the reality and world around you. Your leader yvette like to talk about data.. well show me the data that black folks in america are so good? When you don't own anything in america, you can't demand anything. That's the reality. That's why we are where we are.

White supremacists dont want or care for harriet Tubman or nat turner movies to be made or shown. Black folks made those happen. Nate parker had to fund it himself. Spike lee has had to do the same many time. All these black movies normally face the same obstacles and takes a lot of work behind the scenes from dedicated black folks to ever get to the big screen on this level.

Media is the most important form of communication and the main way people get their information these days. You are losing the battle on that front as most the portrayals of black in the media/entertainment are negative.

This is make believe. The brutality of slavery makes most white people uncomfortable. That's why they try to skip over it in textbooks. That's why they try to make it seem less terrible than what it is.

This is ridiculous.
Hundreds of Black people worked hard on this movie.
This movie is bigger than one actress.
Kasi Lemmons put in countless hours directing this movie.
Many Black people put a lot of hard work and effort to get this movie produced.
There are countless numbers of Black actors and actresses in this movie.
Its shortsighted to boycott this movie based on one person.
Harriet Tubman is one of the Greatest Heroes this country has ever produced and she is a Black Woman.
This isn't another slavery movie, this is a movie about a Black American Hero who freed herself and help free other Black people.

You are entitled to your opinion. I just don't agree.

Understood.
I'm just disappointed by the number of negative responses in here.
Somehow both Nat Turners and Harriet Tubmans movies got derailed.
I still can't believe a Nat Turner movie got made, my jaw dropped the first time I saw that trailer.

:comeon: No it doesn't.
I will be extremely surprised if anyone ever boycotts any of her other movies.
There weren't any boycotts when she did an incredible job in The Color Purple plays.
No boycotts for Widows.
No boycotts for Bad Times at the El Royale.
