Terry Bradshaw Rips Big Ben - YouTube

Ben was never charged with anything while Ray was actually charged with murder. That charge got dismissed when he agreed to testify against the other two defendants.

People talked about the Lewis case because:

1. He was retiring and when a player retires the media goes over their career. The victim's family spoke out because they felt that a guy they believed played a role in the death of their son shouldn't get praise, that got the ball rolling.

2. It's the superbowl, the media talks about all types of shyt. Just like the media bringing up the rape case last time the Steelers were in the Super Bowl. Dan Marino wasn't even involved yet the media uncovered a secret love child.

3. Ray Lewis had an interview with his boy Shannon and was asked about the case so people are going to discuss his answer.

Ben was crucified even though he didn't go to trial or serve time. Terry Bradshaw repeatedly destroyed him. Bad example breh.

The difference is though that Ray's situation happened 10 years ago, not less than a year. If you are arguing that white players don't get passes that black players won't, I don't think you even agree with that honestly.

The posters saying Shockey never got praise in NY must be too young to remember his first few years. Before he was ripped to shreds by the media, he was a favorite of theirs...for much the same reasons as Gronk...strong, lowers shoulder, shows determination...the media loves to see that hard-working, never give up style. A couple years after all the praise, he got annihilated by the media though.

Yeah... it's been said like 20 times already, but Shockey didn't get a pass in NY. Media hated him and many felt that his injury allowed Eli to play better since he wasn't acting a fool and carrying on when he didn't get the ball.

:whoa:

He doesn't want to hear about what NY media thinks, you know, the newspapers and tv stations that followed the team non stop and have access to the behind the scenes stuff......

Never said that. My whole point is that the media will exploit the angle that gives the story the most traction. This country is obsessed with race, so naturally the media plays the race card more often than not.

You're broadening the scope of the thread now.

No one is saying that's not the case, but Gronk a guy that has no off or on the field issues isn't the guy to point to as a double standard.

Shockey, a guy that was shytted on by the media and caused locker room problems and said/did dumb shyt isn't a good comparison for Gronk.

The difference is though that Ray's situation happened 10 years ago, not less than a year

It doesn't matter how long ago it happened. When he announced his retirement and started getting praise, the victim's family spoke out against that. The media isn't gonna ignore that, especially during the time leading up to the super bowl.

If 6 years from now Big Ben' announces it's his last year and people start reflecting on the good parts of his career and the two chick's family come out on some "That a$$hole raped my daughter, remember that shyt :beli:" that will become a big story line.

taking the torch from jeremy shockey.

remember they used to praise shockey for all his antics. the same antics that they despise coming from a black player?

now theyre doing e:60 specials on gronkowski, celebrating him doing everything that they look down upon when done by a black athlete.

:pacspit:
You know what, I didn't even think twice when I saw the video on sportscenter. I've really been conditioned/brainwashed :wow:
What antics are these?

Going to parties and drinking?

He hasn't gotten into any type of trouble, done anything stupid.
What you talkin about, he's John Wall except only bigger and more dangerous :troll:

Agree with the original posters comments, 100% accurate! Ain't no way in hell a black athlete could get away with this type of behavior on a regular basis without being demonized and negatively critiqued throughout the national media as a example of what's wrong with professional sports today!

Gronkowski was just in New Orleans at the Superbowl partying now just a couple of days later he is back at it again with some more stupid antics (look at the large majority of comments in the article below discounting his actions LOL, which we know would read totally different if this was a African American NFL player)!

Oh thats what happened :stopitslime:
So tell me, how does this family you speak of appear on TV being asked about Ray Lewis in the first place?

Outside of being white TE's and being considered the amongst the best in the league, how are they alike? Shockey was considered an outspoken cancer by the media (national media, not just NY), Gronk is not.

Gronk gets 'atta boys' for his frat like behavior, but I can't think of any black athlete being slammed for that. The media HATED Terrell Owens, as we all know, but when he showed up in that porno photo shoot that was news for about a day....not much of a fukk was given. The usual suspects said their sideways shyt and kept it moving.

i dont give a flying f*ck about NYC.

and as far as shockey getting killed by the national media for his actions, what actions are yall speaking of? im talking about his on-field actions. i dont know chit about dudes personal life and dont care.they praised dude for all his on-field antics. the same exact antics that they criticize black players for.

now if there was previously some confusion concerning what i said earlier, i'll give yall a pass. but if yall cant see what im saying at this point, youre either stupid or a delusional white bul or a tap-dancing c00n.

So you made a thread about Gronkowski "Off Field" issues Like Drinking beers with his shirt off and Doing a ESPN Photoshoot with other white and black athletes, bring up how Shockey was also praised by his "Antics" trying to create a link to Gronkowski but then dont really care about Shockey's Off field issues but you do about Gronkowski...

Now you tell me when was the last time you seen Gronkowski be disrespectful or dirty in ANY GAME, cursing out in the press, his coaches, getting in trouble with the law or being called a cancer in the locker room? other than Drinking beers in public with his shirt off if you ask me he is over 21 years old and its legal in the US, what is it that he does that would get any other black athlete in the medias bad side? You nikkaz would go to crazy lenghts in search of that "Platinum" thread...:sadcam::birdman:

3 of the The 49ers black players were at a strip club 2 days before the Super Bowl, how you feel about that? did they get ripped by the media too? let them young millionaires live....

49ers' Gore, Crabtree and Willis Take Super Bowl Party to Strip Club | Bleacher Report

The point is that that those athletes arent celebrated for the same antics that those of another hue, who have been historically discriminated against for centuries, are criticized for. Thats the problem. The media are spinning the antics of Gronk's into a glowing positive ---- something that they never do for Black athletes. For reference: NBA = Thug league.

It was only a matter of time:obama:

Gronkowski gets some heat in New England for partying in Las Vegas | ProFootballTalk

For the second consecutive year, Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is getting some criticism for a post-Super Bowl party.

Last year, the criticism was that Gronkowski’s post-Super Bowl partying called into question how much he cared about the fact that his team had just lost. This year, there’s criticism coming from Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald about a TMZ video showing Gronkowski dancing shirtless in a Las Vegas club and playfully wrestling with a friend.

The headline atop the Herald‘s sports page is, “Grow Up, Gronk,” and Guregian’s column rips Gronkowski for showing insufficient commitment.

“Gronkowski was using his recently re-repaired broken left forearm to help hoist his friend up and over. According to a source close to Gronk, he didn’t appear to do any more harm to the forearm, which was in a long black cast,” Guregian writes. “But you still have to sit back and wonder what he was thinking. He probably wasn’t thinking about minicamp in June, or training camp in July. Because taking a chance with that arm and yet another setback puts him at risk for getting back with his team in time for those camps.”
