So Sixers tanking for Jahlil Okafor already.

If a fanbase is subjected to such a low level of poor play for two or more straight years, they should only accept the best for the team's potential. And getting a deep run in the East doesn't mean a whole lot. Wizards were tanking for 5 years and the only reason they got a decent playoff run was because the rest of the East was so bad.

The Wizards were rebuilding just like the Sixers are now, but they fukked up in two ways. They drafted two top-6 busts in Vesely and Porter, and since their franchise was in much worse shape before Wall got there than the Sixers pre-Hinkie (Arenas's disastrous contract and his guns, Swaggy and Blatche were worth very little on the trade market, McGee being their lone young asset), they couldn't accumulate picks like the Sixers. They also tried to shortcut their way into creating a contender this season by panic trading for Marcin Gortat, giving up a valuable 1st rounder in the process. Trying to shortcut greatness just leads to an extension of mediocrity.

They'll be a decent 4-6 seed in the East, because of Wall/Beal. But that's all.

It was rhetorical, because the picture you painted of 'sometimes you get Manu, sometimes you get Araujo' makes it seem like the percentage of striking gold is similar to coming up empty. You can't do the same thing with players in this country: a) they're a 100% chance of actually playing in the league b) their games have a higher chance of transferring over to the NBA - that's half the battle fought right there, before you take into account all the other factors that both sets of players will encounter throughout their careers. And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that picking him is necessarily bad... it's just that when you put it into perspective with all the other risks they've taken.... it isn't a smart pick.

Beside MCW, you basically have no stability going forward: banking on a center to turn into a 4, who doesn't have a offensive skillset; banking on a center to overcome major health concerns and banking on a Eurostash who has just renewed his contract to stay at Andalou Efes.for a further two seasons.

The more you push the envelope, the more you decrease the likelihood of 'luck' fighting in your corner, which is what Philly are doing by taking all these risks.

This is what I mean, the possibility of all that coming into fruition isn't realistic.
:heh: what do yo know? Didn't I see you in a video taking backshots?

No he won't. He's top 15 at best. No defense, average jumpshot, relies heavy on pick and rolls. Role player at best.
Mudiay is a 6'5'' pg with high-end athleticism... we know how this plays out:mjlol:

I'm kinda iffy on Belein guys

Self's nothing to write home about either. I hope he doesn't ruin Oubre

LeVert has the most NBA tools out of those Michigan guys. Self will ruin Oubre, Justise Winslow and Stanley Johnson are better.

You never told me you can see the future. Huh. Time is a flat circle and all that.
I said 'heading' down the same path. You don't have to be a soothsayer to see where something is heading up to this point.

They ARE building a foundation. MCW, Embiid, Noel, Saric, that's just part of the foundation. It's a process that's going to take more than 2 drafts; we knew this when Hinkie took over. I don't give two fukks what their positions are. Hinkie doesn't draft by position because that's a galactically stupid way to build a team from scratch. Right now all he's caring about is BPA - best player available.

Oh yes, because we all know it's better to draft ANOTHER center with injury problems. :troll:

All teams in the lottery should be concerned first and foremost with drafting the best player available because they suck; that's why they're in the lottery. Drafting for need isn't necessary right now because the only thing the Sixers need right now is talent, talent, and more talent. Draft the guys with the highest ceilings; the guys with the highest potential of being great.
You're falling into a trap by taking this route. You don't keep drafting the best player available (because you can never project it'll translate to being the best player in theory - look at Westbrook), if you've already got a player that will fill that void. It's counter-productive, especially a player that has major injury concerns - an 'all eggs in one basket' is never a smart option when drafting over a period of time. It's wasted opportunities that could be had building elsewhere. And by no means am I saying a 3.5-star wing (if you're in desperate need of one) should be taken over a 5-star center, if you already have a center, it's about taking risks that will be proportionate to maximizing your success across the board.

It would be less of an issue if Embiid was able to play this season, because then you could start working out what fits and what doesn't. Now you have to wait a whole season before he actually plays and then a further season to see if it works, you're looking at 2017 before you know whether or not Noel can play the 4 and Embiid can stay healthy......

The only relevant results right now for the Sixers is the development of guys like MCW, Noel, Embiid, and Saric. Everything else: the losing (which is just a byproduct of rebuilding), how they fit together, what positions they play, is secondary.

How you gonna develop Noel into a 4 when he's going be playing center? How are you going to develop Embiid when he's out for possibly the entire season? How are you going to develop Saric when he won't come over for at least two seasons?

Can't you see by the time you actually develop them together, and work out if they fit together or not it's going to be 2017? What you're telling me is you're putting all your faith in: forcing a round peg in a square hole, a center with major injury issues and a forward that might not even come over?

And you have the nerve to sit there and say it's 'galactically stupid' to draft by position.

When it becomes clearer how good these kids are gonna be, then you worry about the other stuff. That'll be the next step.
:snoop:

If they need a shooter, they'll be able to afford one on the free agent market, or they can trade a misfit piece, or they can just draft one. The draft picks, the cap room, and the cheap young assets make that possible. Hinkie's fully aware that all of these players might not turn out; that's why he goes out of his way to acquire as many picks as possible. That's why they had like 5 second rounders and 2 1st rounders yesterday.

It's what he's doing with the picks is the problem. He's filling up his plate before he even has a chance to sit down and work out if he can eat it all.

Are people forgetting he tried to move up and couldn't

The saric pick is the one that bothers people but reality is he could be the best player on board at that time

No matter what it takes some luck in nba

We were supposed to get the number one pick we didn't but possibly got the pick anyway

People have to relax cause they were gonna suck regardless

It's too early to say anything about Porter. Vesely was a WOAT draft pick. Also it doesn't help that the coach is terrible (<.400 winning percentage :scusthov:)

Even if the Wizards could accumulate picks, the incompetent GM would still bring in subpar players.

Before you continue with your bad posting, recognize that only 6/7/8 teams have won championships in the last 30 or so years. Philly would be happy to get even one championship, so a team that's making deep runs into the playoffs is a successful team to them.

They will continue to tank until they can find their opportunity. Every franchise is not held to the same standard, the Lakers would be considered a declining and failing franchise if they don't find a way to win another championship within this decade, whereas a team like the Pelicans would be eternally grateful to the players that could somehow win them one.

I actually think the Sixers are building something great. It's just going to take 4-5 years.

Assuming that all the players drafted stay healthy and reach their potential. They're not going to win a championship anyway.
