This oughta be good

This is true, but the lyrical overindulgence wasn't enough for most fans who praised the album. It's the beats, he actually gathered some good production and some dope hooks to back him up this time.
His lyrics wouldn't be worth a damn without them. Just look at Food & Liquor 2, which had easily digestible lyrics but for the most part suffered from bad choruses and bland instrumentals.
Even non-Lupe fans found appreciation in the musicality presented in the album. It's the same reason why Young Thug can get away with his left field delivery/struggle bars, because his sound is unique and the production is engaging. Trust, if T&Y wasn't a step up musically from the 2 albums before it then we wouldn't have a 200 page thread for it.
