Seems like the 08 Celts & Heat are the exceptions and not the rule, everyone else has failed miserably trying to walk in their shoes of pairing stars via free agency or trades.
We got the Knicks imploding, the Nets being coached by a drunk and all their players disintegrating before our eyes, the Lakers were debacled into Bolivia last year. All the teams they traded with to get their star players have brighter futures, and thanks to how awful the Knicks and Nets have been it looks like the draft picks they gave up are going to be the gifts that keep on giving. I mean, the Knicks gave up a 1st round pick to get Bargnani
Seems like you better have 4 all-stars that all fit together or the best player in the world (or at their position) coming to your team for that philosophy to work. I guess using your free caproom to fortify your team rather than outright building with it is the way to go, while the draft is where you should get your first and second best players from
Unless you're Chris Grant, then you just draft a bunch of bench players that have advanced metrics.

dumbass KnicksFront office...Bargnani would have been a perfect fit for MDA's offense. Still the problem would have been lack of a good PG and Anthony's unwillingness to work off the ball which IMO is what he's best at. He wants the ball in his hands but will not do the things required for a player that dominates the ball.

so you agree with me?
