So the whole "Superteam" idea is dead, right?

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
Seems like the 08 Celts & Heat are the exceptions and not the rule, everyone else has failed miserably trying to walk in their shoes of pairing stars via free agency or trades.

We got the Knicks imploding, the Nets being coached by a drunk and all their players disintegrating before our eyes, the Lakers were debacled into Bolivia last year. All the teams they traded with to get their star players have brighter futures, and thanks to how awful the Knicks and Nets have been it looks like the draft picks they gave up are going to be the gifts that keep on giving. I mean, the Knicks gave up a 1st round pick to get Bargnani :merchant:

Seems like you better have 4 all-stars that all fit together or the best player in the world (or at their position) coming to your team for that philosophy to work. I guess using your free caproom to fortify your team rather than outright building with it is the way to go, while the draft is where you should get your first and second best players from :manny: Unless you're Chris Grant, then you just draft a bunch of bench players that have advanced metrics.

nah its possible. Knicks, Nets and Lakers are great examples on how not to put a team of stars together :beli:

Nets were dumb to go way over the cap for players way out of their prime. Williams ankle problems didn't help either. Lets not even talk about Jason Kidd :heh:

Knicks made the Bargnani trade 2 years too late :russ: dumbass KnicksFront office...Bargnani would have been a perfect fit for MDA's offense. Still the problem would have been lack of a good PG and Anthony's unwillingness to work off the ball which IMO is what he's best at. He wants the ball in his hands but will not do the things required for a player that dominates the ball. :snoop:

Lakers put 1 all star coming back from injury, an old Kobe who can't play great defense consistently anymore, 39 year old Steve Nash, a soul-less Pau Gasol and a Ron Artest who cant stretch the floor to save his life. It still could have work if we had signed a combo guard to play PG that can stretch the floor and play good defense, w/ kobe handling the ball and Phil Jackson as the coach. :manny:

no they aren't fukkboy. It shows how dumb GMs really are. They are/were poorly built teams.

the gms are dumb because they tried to build a superteam. thats literally the discussion being had in here. their philosophy was flawed from the get go getting a bunch of washed up players and mashing them together to win in a small ass window, forfeiting several years of any chance at winning in the process. i said from day one on here the nets wouldnt even be in contention for home court in the first round in the asscheeks east. it was a horrendous team build

I don't think this current NBA-climate deads the concept of Superteams, it's just that the team that managed to attract the greatest player of his generation also managed to avoid ALL major crises too. Lakers, Nets, Knicks, Bulls (superteam to a lesser degree) are all teams who have been unhealthy, ageing or had management/personnel problems. The Heat have basically survived all these potentially catastrophic crashes that have claimed that lives of all these other Superteams and came out the other side with only a few bumps and bruises.

As evidence of Allen's 3-pointer, the Heat have just been incredibly lucky, whereas other teams haven't. The best player on the luckiest team, how can you lose?
