Drop the price? The price is the same as Spotify if you want the same quality. The high-end stuff costs $20.
Only difference here is that the media would rather have companies that have very little to do with music make more money off it and keep the status quo. Everywhere you read, only the $20 is mentioned but the context is not articulated to readers.
While it is true that the tech sphere made it their duty to focus on Tidal's price point and take everything out of context AND focus on the wealth of the backers (something they never due with any other service i.e. Spotify being owned by major labels and getting 400 million in funding from Goldman Sachs), there will still major mistakes made. (1) Internet bloggers wanted this shyt to fail. They should ahve had sit downs with different tech companies like mostt start ups do (like interviews) and get in their good graces. (2) They rushed the product out before its library was even comparable to Spotify (3) They spent too much time focusing on their rivals, instead of just talking about themselves. (4) Obviously that crazy display.
(5) They did not take into account the inflated cost of the product in the Apple Store. The price is marked up like 30% because Apple takes its cut. Thus, the only way for an iphone user to get Tidal at it's regular price is to buy it on the site. This was not presented well.
(6) They did not highlight the independent artists, and the Tidal X features.
(7) And the most important reason people are not checking it out, the stupid app requires your credit information just to test it out.
In the end, TIdal can bounce back but they have to flip the entire advertising campaign. Most people still do not even know what Tidal is, they are not done. Bu if they do not fix things, they will be.
