It's still a valuable tool but reforms are definitely needed. Increasing costs and diminished returns are no bueno.

Gettin it how you live.

College takes 4 years for just a bachelors. More years for a master/doctorate. If you spent those 4 years seeking out money making ideas and following through with them you'll come out with more money and real world experience then any of those college graduates. The hard part is finding fresh lucrative ideas and getting the start up cash to invest. But if you actually do it its way more rewarding then college. Thing is most people won't actually do it. They need the structure of school, grades, bosses, etc in order to get motivated. When your self employed you have to be your own motivation which can be hard at times.

At the end of the day you'll always make more money striking out on your own. As long as you follow the systems set plan (school, college, job, retire) your income level will always be capped. Thats why only 8% of people make over 100,000 before taxes. Cuz 8% of people had the vision to be the boss. Everyone else either followed the plan or straight up failed
.

And you know this is objectively disproven right? There's a premium paid for every additional level of education finished. This is even more prominent among black males. It's a lot. There's no debate about this.

fukk are you talmbout? College is slow but if you do your research its pretty much a guaranteed career.
That's the problem with the system, college wasn't designed to "guarantee" a career for its students . It was designed to broaden the intellect, language, skillsets, etc. of its students. The liberal arts factor used to be valuable decades ago, but not so much now.

I do think its better to have a degree than to not, but since it is for job preparation now a days, it's important to choose wisely.

My biggest gripe with college is too many brothas and sistas try to use that degree as a ticket into white society.

Black people need to stop working for white people and building their shyt up while we have little to nothing for ourselves.

Too many sellout college grads leaving all the entrepreneurship to athletes and refined hustlers.

Now the claim caviar, hate that oxtail. :scust:

I agree with @DrX, and I am speaking as a college grad myself. Unless you're majoring in a technical discipline/STEM or in business and maybe economics, it isn't worth it unless it will be free for you through scholarships or grants/financial aid (assuming your parents aren't rich and can't pay for it). Otherwise, you're setting yourself up to get trapped in an economy already set against you, with high-paying jobs that were available to previous generations now gone, replaced by low-wage positions that don't require a college degree.

If you're going to "learn" or to "find yourself," do yourself a favor and take advantage of free online courses at places like NovoEd and MIT's OCW. Most importantly - start a business in your youth.

Life under capitalism is not about pursuing knowledge for its own sake. If you're going to college for that, you are likely in for a rude awakening once you graduate.

Stop majoring in useless sh*t and you won't get swindled. Everyday you see articles saying America has a shortage of engineers but people don't wanna put that work in.
and if you don't have an interest in STEM why should you be doomed to a life of poverty? the truth is that most STEM graduates have parent who work in those fields. and just for fukk's sake, what if everyone did major in STEM as you envision? what then? wages would drop like anvils and there would be shytloads of STEM grads without work

i just wonder how much on top college grads will actually be in the long term with crippling debt on the shoulders of the majority? Because if a person owes as much as they make or more and their earning potential isn't much to begin with, they are either taking an L or breaking even.

I am constantly trying to get any kinda free money I can. :sadcam:

Everybody doesnt learn the same way. Some people need a classroom setting to get stuff in their heads.

The average college grad makes $1, 00,000 more over their working career than the average Highschool graduate. The unemployment rate is also a lot lower for college grads.

So good luck with that HS diploma.
