No this thread is about the tendency of Hollywood to cast light skin representatives of all things Black and how we readily accept it. In this case, it's Will Smith... In Nina Simone's case, it was Zoe Saldana...

And I had issues with that casting too...
A lot of us prefer looking at and being represented by people with a more admixed appearance.

Especially with women.

You are telling a story about NFL negligence...

Hell you could have used Forrest Whitaker who is the same age range and more of a physical match, and still had box office success

There is no legit reason to go with Will Smith for this role....

Put a dollar value on colorism brehs...

I hope those dollars are worth it
Your alternatives in OP were trash because the only person I saw in this role was Forrest. I agree with the idea they could have used him instead.

Is this more about colorism or physical stature and features?

Would you be as upset if they Ildris Elba in this role? At least he could do the accent properly :wow:

I guess we aren't going to mention how Hollywood and the media is portraying Dr. Omalu ?

He's a very handsome elder Black man... Looks like my granddaddy....a round teddy bear type

So this actually is gonna go unnoticed?

The history that is currently being written is that Dr. Omalu was 6 inches taller, slim and trim, and light skin.

Damn they fukking with history long before the witnesses are gone...

My only real problem with Will is that damn shytty accent :scusthov:

Gugu? No comment.

I wonder how hard West African accents are for American actors. I really don't think non-Africans can do an African accent worth shyt.

I cant think of any movie where an American did a convincing Nigerian accent. :scusthov:

Part of his casting was because he was a non intimidating, "safe," token Black man.
Not that he was the best man for the role...

He is acceptable to white people's palate...

And that is laughable to you :leostare:

I used to enjoy this forum, the last 2 years of smart dumb nicca arguing is killing this forum.
It's sad, either I'm getting to old for this sh1t, or college age kids are getting more retarded.

Who cares?

Got Africans playing MLK, don't ask me how. Cats from London playing Baltimore drug lords, don't ask me how.

Let good actors cook. Ain't no one trying to see a movie about their short, fat uncle.
