And I didn't really care for the 'Home Alone: 007' skit the movie turned into.
:ohhh:Maybe Kevin McAlliaster didn't grow up to become the Jigsaw Killer... he used his dad's credit card to start a new life in England because his parents had pissed him off and got caught and killed "accidentally" in one of Kevin's traps, then grew as an orphan with a new name... James Bond.... ok I :stopitslime: at myself for reaching like that.

The concept of a villain letting themselves get captured as part of their master plan is fukking tired. And it's fukking stupid.

If Silva's end game was essentially to put on a costume and walk into M's hearing a shoot her, there was NO REASON for his entire plan up to that point. Nothing before that made that any easier. It was fukking nonsense.

I also thought Bardem's performance was a joke. Way over the top, hammy bullshyt.

And I didn't really care for the 'Home Alone: 007' skit the movie turned into.

And the writing sucked.

Agree to disagree breh but I'm glad you stated your case. I think the reason he let himself get caught was mainly to disrupt MI6 more than he already did and out of hubris. Every good Bond villain has hubris on their side and they all make that one slip up they shouldn't because of it.

I think Bardem's performance worked in context of the movie and it didn't minimize the threat his character had at all. And I liked the climax being at Bond's lair just as a reversal of how Bond movies normally go where he is going to the villain's stronghold..this time, they had to come to him

I love like 90% of Casino Royale.

The poker scenes are just so offensively stupid they nearly ruin the movie.

"You must have thought I was bluffing" :snoop:

What Bond should've said was "No you fukking moron, I had kings full of fukking aces, I didn't really give two fukks about whether you were bluffing or not."

If you're going to set up a scene where someone fakes a tell and someone else calls down what they believe to be a bluff, they shouldn't have FOUR OF A KIND AND A FULL HOUSE.

Whoever wrote that scene has no idea how poker works.

:damn:

Your whole post got me to genuinely laugh out loud. I showed Casino Royale to my girlfriend a few nights ago and I laughed during that scene and she was confused because she doesn't know what any poker hands are. They should've just had Bond with no decent hand whatsoever.
