You know damn well “being for everybody” if you’re a black comedian basically means “he’s been co-opted by white ppl”. This is the narrative ppl are running with in 2021. Chappelle as a “not-for-black consumption” comedian was always an unpopular opinion before this Netflix shyt. You see him hanging with Rogan and ppl like that, and now it’s “Yeah, he’s always done comedy for white ppl”. :mjlol:
In 2021, identity politics dictates more than ever how you’re views and box ppl wanna put you in.
I meant he is for everybody in the sense that although he isn't doing black comedy, black people still fukk with him. A breh like Hannibal Buress doesn't do black comedy, but black people still don't fukk with him. Dave isn't that.
Yeah he would fit more in with a white audience than black, but I wouldn't call him a comedian majority of black people look the other way at

Not saying you are. I just find it hard to believe that four comedians who came up together, were friends, and were already house hold names would offer a slot on a stadium tour with chappelle who was virtually unknown outside hardcore comedy circles

Bernie didn’t have a show. Neither did DL. But they were selling out theaters. Dave was also selling out theaters(2000-3000 seaters).

Dave was also the only one with an hour long HBO special. That was a huge accomplishment for a comic in those days. HBO only put out a handful of specials each year. An HBO special meant you were the cream of the the crop.

I said what you said. You’re just running with a certain narrative that has taken steam do to recent controversies. Yeah he dipped when he realized white ppl were laughing a little too hard at his jokes. But so we’re black ppl. Black ppl weren’t lookin at Chappelle as some c00n back in the early 00s. Ppl in 2021 are taking Chappelle inner conflicts from the early 00s and weaponizing them against Chappelle because they’re offended with who hangs and because of his latest Netflix controversy. It’s all transparent as fukk. No black person was saying this bullshyt in 2004.
The revisionist history is ridiculous

Nikkas just crafting shyt trying to win arguments

EVERYBODY was on Chappelle Show. Trying to paint it any different is nikkas trying to create an angle to look militant

:duck: 3 of those dudes were on network sitcoms. One was a staple on comedy specials and popular hood movies. Dave had half baked

Not that I know too many nikkas that watch Mel Brooks movies (besides myself lol), but

That was a big deal and he was only like 19. More black people seemingly knowing him more from Blue Streak and Nutty Professor than THAT tells you why he passed on Kings of Comedy.

DL definitely had a show in 97. Bernie was in Friday, playas club, etc in addition to comic view and other comedic shows. That HBO special wasn’t until like 2000 and the KOC tour was going on like a year before. And I’m not talking small theaters and clubs im talking 20k+ stadiums which is what that tour was doing nightly. IDK why y’all are trying to act like Dave was some huge deal pre Chappelle show or he was known in the black community. He just wasn’t and there is nothing wrong with that

btw i see ppl making this argument but your content doesn't really determine your audience, or if so only to a certain degree
i went to dead prez concerts in the early 2000s. they whole content was fukk whitey but 95% of their fans back then were....white people :mjlol:
i actually learned about them (and slum village) from all the rich cacs who had their patches on their bookbags at my private school :dead:
This was also the case for Public Enemy

Aside from chitlin circuit nikkas(tho the chitlin circuit is almost non existent these days) most black entertainment is consumed overwhelmingly by white peope

That's why nikkas routinely look silly on this board having fanbase wars on some ":scust:you must be a cac to be endorsing _____"

White people have always been the majority consumers of black shyt off numbers alone.

They like the shirtless nikkas pointing guns at the screen killing opps and they love the socially conscious I'm black and I'm proud nikkas too
