People have been using the gamecube controller for 13 years. Smash Melee felt like it was made for that controller and the gamecube controller was supported on brawl so add extra years to that made this thing muscle memory for folks.

The people wanted to use GC controllers on the Wii U, so Nintendo delivered a method for those who already have controllers on deck, and a controller for those who don't. Don't see how it's a bad move at all, since it's an optional peripheral that people actually wanted support for. Nintendo been doing shyt right recently after everybody wrote them off for dead.
