As a Haitian that was born and raised in Detroit, this thread.... :merchant:

It does mean "what's up", but did someone say that "Sak pasé" means "what's up?".... in HAITIAN? :wow: :snoop:

...and yeah, I've been hearing "What up doe" here since I was a little kid. Everybody says it here and I've heard it credited as a Detroit thing. Wasn't until recent years that I've heard cats like Jeezy (who may as well claim Detroit) and maybe...Mickey Factz on "Paradise" start saying it on the regular.

....fukking Murs. :snoop:

I dont know where it came from but it has been in common usage since the late 90s on the east coast at least.

However just because it is an old saying It may be more popular now than ever in detroit, and/or as a resurgence nationally based on detroit influence, I have no clue. similar to how gold fronts were popular in new york city in the 1980s but its really the south that popularized them and blew them up in the 2000s. just trying to give the OP his due.
