When dame promoted cam
When cam took Jay off oh boy
When the cacs in suits couldn't "control" dame
Did he really get taken off though? I've heard so many stories about that record. Just Blaze says he played it for Jay and Jay forgot about it, and that as soon as Cam recorded it, he took it to the radio station and Just Blaze lost publishing rights to it and was pissed at Cam for years, because it was played before the sample could be cleared. So the sampled artist wanted way more of the publishing as a "tax" for them not bothering to clear it first. So Just and Cam both made way less money than they could have.
:snoop:

And call me stupid but I never thought the beat was all that special.
:yeshrug:

Just Blaze tells the story here. I time-coded it.

Be an over the top Jay-z stan and miss the point brehs.

It wasn't about moving units or having hits. It was the fact that is around the time when Jay-z lost himself and started the fighting with Dame :snoop:
1. How the fukk is that related to BP2? You said BP2 happened.

2. If you are speaking English, which everything points to, you are saying that BP2's release was the nail in the coffin.
This dude asked what the nail in the coffin was, so either you are trolling and not trying to answer the question or you are saying that BP2 was the event, in any event both are extremely stupid.

3. How did Jay-z "lose himself" :what:.

Why do you play stupid when you know Jay-z's entire career better than anyone being a Hov scholar since :hamster: ?

Between Blueprint 1 and Blueprint 2 Jay-z took a massive L on wax, in New York, and Hip Hop as a whole. He went from mocking Nas and giggling about fukking his baby momma to releasing a song on The Blueprint 2 admitting defeat in embarrassing fashion trying to spin it as a W.

The album wasn't well received by non-Jay-z fans. He took off to go be European Jay to find himself and that is when Dame was running around trying to keep Roc-a-Fella popular so he grabbed Cam/Diplomats.

Rest is history.

It's always funny to listen to people who were listening to backstreet boys back then tell me what was up :mjlol::camby:.

Even in NY Nas's stronghold, Ether beat pretty mediocre Supa Ugly freestyle by a few percent in a vote (which was the so-called defeat). Takeover would probably win.
Jigga did about the same sales year over year with a significantly weaker album, Nas did like 50 % less with an album that was better and had a hit song. BP2 got good reviews (it ranged from dope as fukk to weak, however hiphop media was on the "pretty dope, could've been better" tip), people fukked with it but it was a let down from a classic mainly due to the vast amount of filler tracks thereof the 2.1. That Jay-z haters (aka Nas stans) didn't like it is another story, which is incredibly irrelevant.

For the deeper hiphop heads, we might say that Nas technically won but to the general public Jay was moving like he always moved, on top. Same demand for his music, shutting down all the clubs in NY, bigger shows and bigger moves. We all know that beef has sadly been about size of a rappers fanbase for at least 25 years, the cornyness of Nas's could make up for the quantity but not fully.

Yeah I was listening to back street boys when we both were posting on the same Hip Hop message board (SOHH) when the album dropped :snoop:

Classic attempt at deflection but you failed. I know you are a die hard Jay-z stan because since the early 2000s you've been doing this over the top dikk riding of him. :snoop:

The fact that you think he barely lost to Nas says it all. :snoop:
