You really think no players will be involved?

I think it almost has to be in order for a team to handle Revis' money demands. The rookie cap makes it almost silly to trade high round picks anymore because they're cheap now. I would've agreed with you if first rounders were getting top dollar, but for most teams it'd be worth it to just keep the pick and draft a corner for half the price.

I mean put yourself in the Jets shoes. What type of player would have value to the Jets?

Youre not getting a big time QB for Revis. Jets need picks more than anything. Everything can be addressed through the draft.

^^^Revis is 27

Seattle won't go after Revis, their secondary is set and they have other needs. Denver and Detroit sound about right (didn't know Detroit still had picks coming their way from Dallas)

ah youre right, messed up there for some reason. nevertheless, I feel like a first+alex+something like 4th will definitely get the deal done. or if they dont want alex 1st+3rd should get it done

Revis is 27. :usure:

and LastEmp if Revis comes back and is either hurt again or doesn't look the same, nobody would give him the money he'd seek, thus making it easier to keep him.

But why would you want to keep him? Because you know he's still gonna demand it and play the "I was coming off an injury year" type of deal.

You should know by now Revis is going to try and get the most money possible no matter how he plays.

Toe me you keep him you're hanging onto the past ,you got so many holes get something for him while you can. You gonna be willing to pay that $80m this time next year for him?

The Jets will pillage someone for Revis and if they don't get a haul in return, they'll keep him and his $6 million salary. Nothing lost.
jets need picks. theres no point in keeping revis next year if he bounces after. theres a reason teams try to trade players whose contract ends soon

but I forget you are someone who doesnt think about the future :heh:

only an idiot would consider 1st rounder junk.

If he joined the 9ers it would be a fukking wrap for a couple of years. That D is gully enough

Not true though, because what if he has a down year? Which to me, could easily happen.

Well that's all he is on contract for and there is no guarantee he comes back to the 49ers anyway.

Problem with Revis, and I've sensed this from 2009....is that he views himself as a brand. Its more than just football to him. He has his best buddy from high school following him around like Turtle in Entourage....he's an aspiring rapper....he's filming his rehab....never happy with his contract...and as a corner, it seems its gotten exhausting for the Jets. If he cant just be one of the guys on the team, its kind of like...whatever...go try and be Deion bouncing from team to team and we'll see if we can get some younger guys willing to just play football.

ESPN business analyst Andrew Brandt, a former Packers executive, offered his take on the Darrelle Revis situation. Speaking with Ross Tucker on an ESPN podcast, Brandt painted a grim picture, suggesting the Jets are tired of Revis' money grabs and want to send him packing.

"I don't think this kid is ever going to be happy, financially," Brandt said. "I think he and his representation have made it clear to the Jets and probably anyone else who asks, it's not enough to be the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL today or even NFL history. They're into this whole 'premier player' negotiations, which has worked for two players.

"It worked for Chris Johnson -- although Adrian Peterson went past that -- and it worked for Larry Fitzgerald, where you're not compared to the market. This is their argument: Forget what cornerbacks make; he wants to be paid like the best players.

"I just sense this is never going to stop with Revis. Forget the fact that he's hurt all year; this is going to be an issue and I sense the Jets have known this for a while and they might as well try to get some value before he turns free agent a year from now. I sense this is going to be a recurring issue, into the year, and that's why they want to move it. They just want to get this off the team."

Brandt, who said he knows John Idzik very well, weighed in on the Jets' decision to hire him as general manager. He acknowledged that he recognizes Idzik as more of a cap guy than a talent evaluator, but Brandt was in favor of the move.

"Two things sort of suggest that maybe this is the right move for the Jets," he said. "He does have some scouting background in his background, highly recommended by John Schneider, who is the well-respected general manager of the Seahawks. Number two, let's be frank about this: They're in a mess, cap and contract wise. If you're going to hire a leader of that organization, you'd better have experience handling that kind of stuff."

When are they gonna start doing that? I think I'd be way more open to a Revis deal if I knew Idzik can draft. Idzik didn't draft Browner, Chancellor, and Sherman, but now I'm gonna expect him to replace Revis?

The Jets can start to replace the stuff they need by either trading down or staying put. They just can't fix everything in a year. Get a pass rusher, guard, RB, and TE this year, suck next year and go QB and completely replace the secondary (because it will be absolutely necessary. Losing Revis and Landry means the secondary will be trash)

This team hasn't had a good UDFA gem since Brandon Moore.

lol at 1st and third rounder being junk. I would trade 25 starting qbs for a 1st and a third without thinking much.

I would love Regular P to become a GM :heh: watch him trade all of his picks for next 5 years for two players who are good at the time and then watch the franchise turn to garbage :heh:

Like I said, by the end of 2013 the dude is gonna be more of an issue than an asset.

Keeping Revis is just gonna give you more contract headaches this time next year and would not be shocked at all if he picked up and left, especially if the team continues to suck. Why would he want to stay?

Dude gotta be the biggest idiot in this thread.

Puts zero thought into health or future, just "Yo that's Revis, we're gonna get 4 starters and a 1st for him!"

Its a process(ugh) but Revis has more value than anyone else...we need picks.

Not to mention this kid will never be happy with his contract

and if memory serves Browner wasnt even drafted

SO. fukkING. WHAT?

This extra nonsense doesn't even make sense. He plays better football than any fukker on the the Jets now that's "willing to just play football."

You can go ahead and have "just one of the guys" if you want to. The Jets have plenty of them. They just happen to suck at football compared to the guy you're already mentally trying to find a good reason to be cool with letting him go.
