If i were to create a LINEAGE of being 'the one'...not 'a top guy'...but THE GUY...it would look like this. And hogan is there twice purposefully beacuse between manias IV and V, savage WAS the one, until hogan got the belt back.

Andre
Hogan
Savage
Hogan
Bret
HBK
Austin
Rock
Taker
Lesnar
Cena*

I don't think at any point anyone sniffs these guys as being the face of the company, agreed?

I'd replace Taker with Trips
you have a very fair point but realistically during the ruthless agression and post era, undertaker was definitely viewed as more credible and untouchable than HHH. Him main eventing during mania XXIV, and having the most important matches at 25 and 26 somewhat confirm this. If anything, you could make an argument to adding HHH somewhere between lesnar and taker and I'd listen but I don't see it.

Trips was the man for all of 2000, then we had the infamous Reign of Terra on Raw for almost two years

Smackdown had Lesnar, Taker, Angle, Big Show...and up until JBL they all sort of competed for top spot rather than being the out and out top guy

I hear you...but i really don't think undertaker magically became the man. at mania XXIV he was definitely THE guy, and the year leading to it. That would put him after lesnar left though.

so, it sounds like you guys are thinking

Austin
Rock
HHH
Lesnar
Taker
Cena

I wouldn't even have Lesnar and Taker on there because they were competing with Angle for it

Austin
Rock
HHH
Cena

Would be mine

I hate to say it but I don't think Macho was ever "The One" in WWF. Andre was bigger than the title for many years and even though he and Hogan had some matches prior to WMIII... they were always on that type of collision course.

Hogan became THE man in '84 and Andre officially passed the torch at WMIII

Macho had a year long title reign but Hogan was taking up just as much if not more of the spotlight. He "saved" the day in their Survivor Series match... he creeped on Liz... it was still all about Hogan.

Agree. Savage was never that guy.

Also agree with those posters pointing out Trips' reign as the One. It definitely happened.
