summerslam 02 triple h was already a heel :comeon: im talking from MSG Return to DX turn he was the top face and if they wouldve kept him as a face having him vs Brock woulda been crazy

He wasnt the top face. ..Rock and Austin were. He got kicked out his post Mania spot for Hogan too. He was demoted at King of the Ring for the Rock return too. As a face.
This shyt is just true...the biggest acts in wwe at the time were undertaker austin, and rock. During this stretch of time trilla, hhh jobbed to hogan, angle, and ut. He just wasnt on their level and the fans were way more into hogan rock and brock than they were HHH thats for damn sure.

HHH wasnt top baby face (let alone 'the one') by booking or the fans during this stretch of time.

Savage wasn't the one, but Triple H was...i mean..

j scholar

come on

Like others have said. Savage temporarily got the ball to run with in Hogan's absence.

The moment Hogan came back he got his spot back. Thats not truly being the 'One'.

Shyt is like D Bry's reign as the "top face". He only got to be there because of Cena's injury. Now with Cena being back, Bryan seems to have taken a back seat.

On the other hand, HHH had his own run and he wasnt holding the spot temporarily for someone to return and claim it back.

Lesnar had like the shortest reign as the top dog.

I dont agree with anyone thinking that Cena became no. 1 because Lesnar left.

Cena was just more talented Lesnar. Better on the mic, better personality and he got more over with the crowd while Lesnar was there.

For me, it was only a matter of time before Cena took over.

The stoop with dat dope fanny padding
If i were to create a LINEAGE of being 'the one'...not 'a top guy'...but THE GUY...it would look like this. And hogan is there twice purposefully beacuse between manias IV and V, savage WAS the one, until hogan got the belt back.

Andre
Hogan
Savage
Hogan
Bret
HBK
Austin
Rock
Taker
Lesnar
Cena*

I don't think at any point anyone sniffs these guys as being the face of the company, agreed?

I don't think Andre, Savage, Lesnar, or Taker belong on this list.

HHH wasn't the one to me at any point, he had a chance when he won the Rumble and took the title from Jericho as a face, but his character fizzled out and he had to turn heel to breathe some life back into it.

When you think about it. Cena has had a longer reign than the likes of Austin and Rock.

You can say that Rock would have stayed the top guy if he didnt leave for Hollywood but that was his own decision. I remember that fans had started to turn on him in 02.

The only person who got to be the no.1 guy as long as Cena is Hogan

Cena also is arguably the most reliable and loyal of any wwe #1 ever...hogan at the end if the day was ego and money driven, austin got his neck broke and definitely had issues with putting sone guys over, hbk ran from putting guys over, bret refused to put hbk over in Canada, rock was great at putting guys over and was a star but had ambitions outside the business and left before he got a full ten year run as #1, same with brock, lashley ran before he got the ball, orton had an attitude problem/injured, batista was too old when he got over and fled, triple h was a great hated heel but never the clear #1 guy imo besdies maybe that 03 heel run, taker was always big but he was never the #1 guy, same with edge as taker, etc.

cena is damn near the best #1 guy morale/locker room respect, postive media wise, etc.

He puts over whoever the company really wants with no complaints, has come back from injuries in record time, has done movies for the company when he probably could be atleast getting bigger roles then batista in hollywood, has had arguably a solid list of matches with guys like hbk, punk, umaga, etc. And is great for kids...other then smark booing, dude is probably the best #1 guy on paper

Even the smark booing is good in a way. It shows that you either like dude or you hate him but he matters to everyone.

Cena is like WWE's dream top guy. A great example of someone who didnt let success go to his head.

Savage wasnt the one imo, Hogan was always above him even when Savage had the belt. Although he was on SD, id argue Brock was probably the one moreso than HHH during their run... at least until mid 03.

Batista legitimately drew big in 95, more than Cena, id say Cena became the guy in 06.

Cena HAD NO CHOICE but to be reliable and 'loyal'

There is no competition

Whats he gonna do? Work for dixie?
Act? He's not talented.

And if you disagree with savage you just werent there at the time. He was the man for a solid year and a bigger celebrity than anyone we have now including cena. The lunacy of saying yes hhh but no lesnar or savage is just beyond words.

Unrelated? Lesnar kind of dominated

Lesnar was THE man as long as the belts were unified, once they split the belts by giving HHH the World Title... he was made The Man on RAW.
Him and Evolution were running things, and he went through Steiner, Booker T, Goldberg, Shawn Michaels (off the top of my head) and always ended up with the Big Gold Belt back in his hands and this was when people still cared about that title.

Do you guys think Eddie was the man on Smackdown for a bit? Or was he always just in rotation for the spot with the Smackdown 6? He was def. extremely over.
