You will be back at that same spot next year or the year after, you're just delaying the inevitable which is a full rebuild. It's why Masai still would like to trade Lowry.

The Raptors can't get free agent, so where is the depth supposed to come from? You won't be singing a franchise talent, so where is that player going to come from? This draft may not have a LeBron, but it damn sure does have potential franchise players regardless of what you think about them, nobody thought Wade was a franchise player when he was drafted, so don't give me that "there are no Wades".

Spurs haven't built through the draft since 03. I do agree about the Pacers I wasn't thinking about them since they've become successful in such a short period of time.

But that just reinforces my point. It's very rare for it to happen. You still gotta be able to attract a key free agent.

All that winning got the Mavericks what on the free agent market? And that's with no state income tax.

The only reason they aren't horrible is because they already had a franchise player. Name all the big free agents that have signed with the Raptors please.

The Mavericks became cheap after they won. Hell even their franchise leader admitted to slacking after they won the chip.

at this point they look like a more attractive destination than the lakers. That's for sure
You know how wrong this is? Lakers will ALWAYS attract free agents, Raptors will never attract those elite players.

Potential does not equal success

Gotta be able to attract free agents. You do that by promoting winning not promoting tanking .

I rather the Raptors build through FA than wait 3-4 years and wait for players to achieve their "potential"

There isn't correlation between FAs signing to teams promoting winning over teams that promote tanking, because there's a thin line between the two. For instance, the Raptors have a 25-21 record, they'd be #10 in the West and at face value would be no more appealing than the Grizzlies, Nuggets, Timberwolves or any other of the teams hovering around the same records, because of this stretch-truth of them 'promoting winning'.

How the hell do you suggest that you'd rather them build through FA when Toronto have a 100% better chance at actually drafting a franchise player as opposed to signing one?

They haven't been in the lottery since they got Duncan :russ:

The Blazers got Aldridge and Batum on draft night trades, and they picked up Lillard in the lottery.
The Warriors got Curry and Thompson in the draft.
The Pacers got Stephenson, Hibbert (Traded from YOUR raptors on draft night) and PG in the draft.
The Spurs got Duncan, Parker and Manu in the draft, and traded for Leonard the night of the draft.
The Thunder got Durant, Westbrook, Ibaka, Jackson & Jones in the draft

Notice a pattern? The only team in the league built primarily through free agency are the Heat, and if you look at the other teams that tried it they all failed miserably. You don't build through free agency, you bolster your roster with it.

Raptors future isn't even that bright. Lowry either leaving or getting overpaid. A core of Demar, Ross and Val isn't winning shyt.

in Masai we trust breh.:whoa:

his draft record (all late first round picks and 2nd rounders) is impeccable and he picked up guys like Brewer and Koufus from the scrapheap, key rotation players on a 57 win team.

the Nigerian Prince damn near traded Nene for Demarcus Cousins. we probably could have got it done if we threw in an extra asset.

Next year, when the Sixers trot two lottery picks onto the floor as well as Noel, you'll be wishing you had tanked. :ld:
And I bet Next year the sixers will still be competing in the tank wars.

It's easy for u fans of no team to shyt On noncontender going to the playoffs but for fans ofactual teams, yeah it's nice to get young talent but that every year in the tank war gets old. Buildings frnchiee through the draft is a extremely slow and long process. U get tired of losing records of season. That shyt ain't fun to watch. Not for the actual committed fan if that franchise. And then even when u tank there no guarantee your going to guess right on the right draft pick. Charlotte, Detroit, washington, Minny, sactown, Cleveland all been in the mottos fore years and what do they have to show for it. No of these squads are currently above .500.

No everybody is as fortunate as OKC to buld through the draft. They're teally almost the exception. And even thn they haven't won a thing yet. Only one team has really built them selves through the draft and won the ship over the last two decades. Only one team in the last twenty year has had the number one pick and went on to win the trophy. The rest of the champs Were all built via trade and free agency.

Not every franchise can be the model franchise like SA. So why not let the young raptors get some playoff experience. Nobody they can draft this year in the lotto is going out them over the top to contend anyway.

in masai i trust

f it raptors ahvent made the playoffs in 5 years, we have like 4 playoff apperances in 19 years of existence

I say lets do it, i like our core i think we can do great things if it isnt blown up in the playoffs, ONLY ONCE has the raptors gotten out of the first round. If we make it to the second :wow:

I really think we can give the heat or pacers a 6-7 game series

Look i was the leader of teh tank wars, i wanted wiggins, id have sacrificed my first kid and cheered on a 0-82 season to get it but it aint happening so f it playoffs, for the most part only toronto fans know what it's like to never see playoffs, i mean the toronto maple leafs made the playoffs last year for the first time in like 9 years and it was a celebration, toronto fc never made anything, blue jays havent made teh playoffs since 1993, buffalo bills not since 1999, the raptors its been friggin years. and im at the point where who cares about next year lets talk about right now :wow:, ill friggin take a first round sweep just to taste that sweet nectar called playoffs :wow:
