he did have backlash but Em didn't have a lucritive endorsement/sponsorship deal with someone like Reebok or anyone at all. he was only representing himself & Aftermath Records

This basically sums it up, rappers back then didn't really care about the corporate side of shyt. They weren't too concerned with their brand and offending people. The artist were on less of a business tip and not too concerned about endorsements. Yes Em did eventually get some corporate shyt going, but the first few years he was out, he was basically recieving hell from everybody outside of hip hop.

B) It was framed as a cautionary tale about people fighting evil and immoral urges, and wasn't a first person boast like Ross's date-rape line.

in my theory on ross's case i think the cause of the backlash and justified concern is not what ross said but the audience that has proven to follow the psalms coming out the speakerbox.
