Russia isn't built for a war outside of its borders, they're years away from having an army fully of NATO standard.
But this move effectively keeps Assad safe and allows the Syrian Army more leeway than they had before.
This also could impact the Turkish support for oil smugglers from ISIS territory and let the Russians bomb them to hell.

Hmmmm breh i think theres some fukkery afoot. Turkey has been moving tanks to their border with syria and some people think they might invade northern syria via ground to establish a"safe zone," which is really them trying to keep the kurds from linking their territories under the guise of fighting ISIS. The kicker is Turkey could ask USA for air cover as they try to invade north syria. That would be a genius chess move because you know damn well Putin aint fina shoot down America's planes.
The FSA, Jabhat Al Nusra, Ahrar Al Sham are all praying for this to happen. And ISIS as well.

Probably why Russia met with Israel recently, they have been destroying Syrian shipments of anti aircraft weapons. They had to give them the green light.
America is not gonna risk a war with Russia over Turkey's sneaky ass, Russia is not Iraq or Iran. they have the ability to shut shyt down and drag everyone down with them if need be. Putin would be forced to meet any american aggressions head on, or else russians will throw his ass out!
