You gotta try these Maldon finishing salt flakes. They're the real MVP. I got a 3lb bucket of the stuff off amazon lol. Took my steak and salad game to a whole nother level. Very subtle taste, but adds a really nice crunch to all your dishes. Click the picture to go to it

Oh, I'm on it, breh.

I usually have a box of Diamond on deck for seasoning what I'm cooking, some Maldon for finishing, and just some standard coarse Morton's kosher that gets used as table salt for those that want it.

Sounds silly to have three different types of salt, but no one who has tried my cooking has questioned it afterward.

i think adding salt to something unsalted like raw meat is fine. usually what doctors are indicating when they talk about sodium intake is processed foods or fast foods that have a ton of salt in them. but using a pinch of salt to season regular food probably doesn't add up to the recommended daily intake. it's when you add it on to all the other processed shyt you are eating, that's when you are fukkin up.

so it depends on how i'm eating. if i been eating home cooked food then yeah i'll go ahead and use salt. but after a lot of eating out or eating junk food, i'll probably try to skip it.

@kingdizzy01 I need to be more specific and this is for anybody interested. If you wanna give potassium salt a try, you gotta buy NuSalt. Don't buy any other brand because they load it with caking agents and chemicals.

Walmarts around here don't carry it. Rouses does and mom and pop joints do. It's potassium chloride. About 560mg of potassium per 1/6 tsp.

Aside from poor hydration most heart issues are because of electrolyte issues with potassium at the top of the list. Without supplementing it's hard to hit the 4 g recommended. But you can get to 4g of sodium easy as hell. I think a big breakfast w hotcakes at mcdonald's get you to 4 g of sodium if I'm not mistaken. Sodium raises bp and potassium lowers it. For every 1 g of sodium you need a min 3 g potassium to counter it or your shyt is off balance.

Your doctor knows this but he won't tell you.

Plus it does take discipline to incorporate it into your diet. It's not the best tasting stuff and most folks blend it in smoothies or water. A pill is def easier but might not be as safe long term.

Edit : big breakfast w hotcakes is 2150 mg sodium not 4 g. But you can see how easy it is to get sodium in you. You'd have to eat about 15 bananas to counter that.

Didnt know that about potassium cause my BP been kinda high and the dr tried prescribing me some pills but i dont want to go down that path. Besides bananas whats high in it? I take a multi but that may not be enough

Multivitamins might have 99mg which isn't shyt. Avocados are high in it. Bananas which you mentioned. Mangos :dame: . Fruits in general. Lots of ways to get it from food but it takes a loooooot of food to even get near the reccomendation, which isn't enough for the average American diet.

Wife may use a Maggie cube for sodium. She makes her main seasonings fresh though.

I use salt blended seasonings, but I may use one type of blend. After that, a light seasoning salt and the rest powders and herb blended seasonings.

What I see on YouTube is some people oversaturating meat with rubs. That's too much! Gotta learn the art of "freaking" the food when seasoning.

Never use regular table salt to season food.

I use salt to brine if I’m cooking large pieces of meat like a pork butt or a whole bird. In general I don’t use table salt to season meat. I use alternative salts like MSG, soy sauce or liquid seasoning.

I don’t use pre made seasonings, I make my own with zero salt so I have full control of the flavour.

My mom never used salt for frying chicken and that shyt is bomb...although Goya chicken seasoning has a little salt in it so I guess it's moot
