Soft shell crab sandwiches freak me out. I'm too scared to try one.

Like they fried a whole ass crab. I guess it's soft so you can chew through the shell or something. Idk.

I just remember somebody had one when I went to New Orleans and they freaked me out I was at some oyster restaurant.

Soft shell is when they molt (sp) they are vulnerable until it hardens, so they batter and fry it, and it’s good af

@UserNameless brah I’m literally the post above yours

Is the shell still there but soft enough to chew through :ohhh:

basically. Its kinda like if you eat a polish or hot dog that has a little crunch when you bite it, but its a really light shell. Dont really know how else to describe it. First time I had one I wasn’t expecting any shell, just thought it was like crab with no shell or just soft skin like fish and I took one bite and was disgusted. Second time I knew what to expect and it was good.

I make these all the time, fling em on a seafood platter or in a brioche burger bun with coleslaw. I make a Japanese-esque dipping sauce and ppl eat it up. I was eating so much at one point I went off it.
