But people don't buy PC games they pirate them. That's why alot of PC games are free and profit off of microtransaction instead. At least with consoles people have to actually buy the games (unless they have the know-how to hack their consoles)

Did you expect them to not try and compete? All Microsoft will need to do is extend the XBOX Live benefits to Windows and include "Games with Gold". That alone will get millions of people to pay attention to the storefront.

Yeah the store needs work, but I think they can make it work. TBH even origin isn't that bad it's just that people are still in love with Steam.
