This. Some of them must have not heard Drake's or any other artists mixtapes- they were this raw. Drake sounds this raw even at his shows. With the right producers and mixing, those lyrics are platinum lyrics in this day and age.

Yup. Mixing is EVERYTHING. That's why many people don't sound as good live, if it's not nerves or faulty equipment. If anything, Quentin probably hasn't experimented with his voice and see to what extent it can do for him.

We've got a lot of rappers with funny voices who's seen success. Lil Wayne, B-Real, Yelawolf, Danny Brown, Young Thug, Joell Ortiz, Kendrick Lamar... Even Drake himself. Having a weird voice is actually to your benefit, cause if you can master that...J. Cole has a regular rap voice, and people call him boring all the time (which he isn't ).
