jolts? :heh: Dummy

Yall just drafted a point guard, now you're giving up on him so you can draft another point guard...and he probably won't live up to the hype either :skip:

Suns pieces > Lakers

Meant bolts but IDGAF either way :manny:

Yeah, you have the pieces. To constantly remain a mediocre ass squad. This is the Lakeshow, we always rise from ashes... like a phoenix :mjpls:

All I know is Lebron gets to the rim way to easy for a guy who barley has handles, a great post game or any unstoppable go to offensive moves.

Defenses are weak nowadays hand checking or not because players are mentally weak or just not competitive as they once were.:manny:
a 6'4" gary payton can bearhug lebron on every play if he wants, he's not stopping him. Ain't no damn handchecking stopping lebron

I'm pretty sure 90s Roman could slow Lebron down

Matter fact Jordan and Pippen both would lock Lebron up.

If that's true handchecking, then LeBron would be the GOAT defender in that era. Just as quick as any guard and able to guard 1-4. Yeah that sounds about right:ld:

It's not so much the hand-checking per se, like other posters pointed out there's still handchecking going on today. It's the amount of general physicality on the defensive end that was allowed. However let's not forget that Lebron is a product of his era : like other players of the 90s, he probably would've adapted to the style of play, because that's what he would've been used to.

If handchecking would make no difference in the NBA in this era, they should bring it back. What is there to lose?

:coffee:
You can't bring back something that never went anywhere. Have you seen Patrick Beverley play defense? :heh:

It's an impossible rule to enforce and something the NBA has been trying to prevent since '79 to no avail. This idea that you cannot touch players today without fouls being called is a myth.

I wish people would consider this more often.
Particularly when assuming that players of yesteryear couldn't adapt to the 3 point shooting era.

If you think Patrick Beverly plays the same defense that Gary Payton or Derek Harper played, perhaps you should watch more video.

If you watch footage on both you'd see Beverley is as tenacious a defensive guard as any that's played in this league but ok I guess... :shaq2:

Nothing fueled Jordan more than competitive opponents and there weren't many as competitive as the glove.

Just look at Jordans face here he's enjoying this shyt so much. It's better than sex to him.

Yes he is.
But the application of what you think handchecking may be today is not what it was in the 1980s, or 1990s.
So it's misleading to characterize it as "still going on".

And to talk about Steph Curry being the most hand-checked player in nba history (I'm almost certain I saw you say that in this thread or another thread) is so ridiculous and impossible to prove it's an empty statement.

80's handchecking greats couldn't keep skinny 200 lb. Alex English and slow sloth footed Kiki Vandeweghe from averaging 25-30ppg, but they're going to stop Lebron?:ohhh::ehh:

It's not misleading if we're talking about handchecking, the use of hands to prevent defenders from blowing by you and guide their direction because it is something that happens in every single NBA game to this day, and is a practice used by just about every pressure defender today on every competitive level. 3 seconds and handchecking fouls are the most inconsistent calls in the NBA.

Do you know what is misleading though? Telling people handchecking was legal in MJ's era and pretending their were no phantom fouls, handchecking fouls, pretending a common shooting foul today would not be called then, pretending players didn't flop, acting like players handchecked on every single possession, pretending all games were all out physical wars. That is misleading.
