To be successful in today's zero sum game economy, you have to be born with the correct personality traits of narcissism, Machiavellianism, charisma and psychopathy. I'm not saying you gotta be Patrick Bateman and eat homeless people but you gotta have some level of "cut throat" about you. Most people aren't born with the optimal combination of these personality traits, they just want to clock in, do their bit for mammon and go home to their family at night and maybe crack open a beer or two on weekends with their friends. They dont live to work they work to live. This doesn't make them immoral or lazy. There was a law of attraction thread on here that talked about this but I think the answer I gave then applies to this thread.

if it was a suitable large-scale solution for disadvantaged people to just work harder on themselves, why aren't they evidently not capable of doing so? why do less wealthy people not just work harder? why do low intelligence people not just study harder? why don't obese people just practice self-constraint harder? if this was possible for large scales of people, why do rampant inequalities exist?

The law of large numbers applied to human genetic variation leads to big variations in physical and mental traits. Smart and dumb, attractive and ugly come on a bell curve. Life is just unfair that way

Just having the fortune of being born in a first world nation increases the odds that you get to pursue and develop your innate abilities.

More than a third of the worlds population lives in extreme poverty.

Are these ppl lazy? We communicate and have access to outliers in relation to the grand scope of things by virtue of living in America.

As a college educated product of "inner city" public schooling - the obvious answer to this is yes.

Most of the people i went to school with flat out would not take life seriously and never listened to anyone, and I saw countless adults bursting veins in their necks and foreheads trying to reach them too

pretty sure white schools had kids just like this, but i didn't attend those schools :hubie:

point being: wtf do those people do once they become adults? they ain't about to be neurosurgeons or scientists
and yes we're all friends on facebook now and they're all working bullshyt jobs, trying to rap (we're pushing 40 now) or they joined the military.

Goatganda the pearl of Africa
some people are lazy and allergic to knowledge and advancement, I know that much is true. so many objectively false posts on here and elsewhere on social media that could easily be disproven by a few seconds of research.

except many people who are making min wage now are ones on the front lines, the cleaners at the hospitals, the gas station attendants, the stocker at walmart, cashier at your local grocery store

I would not exactly use that term lazy, if they all said nah and decided not to go into work day lets see how things would be breh.

Many people who work min wage jobs work harder than the average office schmuck who works for like a hour out of the 8

Accept the fact that you are an exception. And dont look down on people who aren't.
I really don’t. I’m a man of the people.

Real talk

I'm 35 and I still work a minimum wage job, a cart pusher at that

(the only reason why I dont stand out is because I look super young for my age)

So it might be easy to dismiss me as "unambitioned"

But what people dont know is that through out my 20's

I was actually the founder and c.e.o of a startup that was doing thens of thousands of dollars in revenue every year

But because I'm just a poor African immigrant with limited resources

I wasn't able to continue with my company and had to shut it down due to FDA action

So moral of the story is, yes, some people are just destined to work at the lower levels of society,

Social hierarchies do exist, but there also many people stuck at that position due to unfortunate circumstances

We dont know peoples stories
I feel you. I hope you get back on your feet. I’ve had a few failed businesses too.
Absolutely not. There will always be people working minimum wage jobs but it's no single persons destiny
True but like I said, there are some who really don’t strive for better and will be stuck there.

People have to work those jobs. The minimum wage needs to go up, however. Considerably.
No... it really doesn’t.
