Women have the power because you don't want to die alone.

So as far as I can tell, if one wants to get married then he has to shell out money for the ring, the wedding, the honey moon, the divorce, etc...
What is the upside, brehs?
What does that dumb little piece of paper actually do?
What can marriage give me that simply living together can't?
I mean, if you really want to exchange vows so bad then get a couple of rings, go into a church, and have a ceremony...who will ever know that you didn't sign some stupid ass contract?
I just don't understand...why?
Why set yourself up like this?
Why even risk the awkwardness of having your s/o sign a prenup?
Why take that plunge only to find out that the bytch is marrying you for money when if she truly wanted to be with you the so-called "binding agreement" simply wouldn't be an issue?
Is it that little bit of a tax break?
Is it your parents?
Is it the fact that you're dumb?
Just...explain please.

You really don't have to do any of that to get married.

If someone wants to get married, that's their right. Maybe it gives them a sense of security and comfort to be tied to another person in that way.

I can't understand it because it doesn't make sense.

lol I knew you would say that. It does make sense. It just doesn't make sense to you because you don't want it to. You're against marriage so you're automatically gonna write anything that's "pro marriage" off as dumb/stupid/doesn't make sense/something you can do without getting married

I'm tired of you idiots not reading posts.

NOBODY SAID THAT YOU HAVE TO DIE ALONE 'YA DUMB fukk - SIMPLY THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO SIGN A USELESS CONTRACT THAT DOES MORE HARM THAN GOOD. <----------------------- The point. I hope you don't miss it again.

came in to say this.

and if you actually marry someone whom you share a bond with, you can look forward to sharing a lifetime of great experiences. not every marriage is from hell.

Financial security has always been at the heart of marriage. Look at cultures that still practice arranged marriage. The man has to be financially capable of supporting the woman. It's only in Black American culture that this seems to ruffle feathers.

I'm against signing contracts. I am not against exchanging vows in a church, getting rings, and calling yourselves married. I don't see the point in the paperwork. Please show it to me.

My point is that its rare to find a woman who would allow that. You can keep kicking logic if you like. Good luck finding a woman down for not going to the courthouse.

With the probability of divorce being what it is and the divorce courts being set up the way that they are, it is MUCH easier to just change your last name and have a ceremony without signing the paper.

What's the point in doing all of that when I could just get married and say I'm married.

And getting divorced isn't something I'm worried about.

Look fam marriage isn't mandatory, and everything you pointed out makes sense. But I think what you are over looking is the irrationality of ROMANTIC LOVE. why would a guy stay with a female that cheated on him and gave him and std? why would a female stay in a physically abusive relationship? why would a person sign a legally binding contract when they can get all the same things without signing the contract? I think the answer is very simple ROMANTIC LOVE. When people reach those emotional highs they tend to do a lot of irrational things, so none of this stuff should be shocking. But once again marriage is optional, so you and me don't have to do it. We shouldn't shyt on people for wanting to get married and married people shouldn't shyt on us for not wanting to do it.
Thank you, somebody that has actually read the posts and not just the thread title.

All of that? That's a lot less than what you would have to do if you get married for real. Do you really need a piece of paper in order to exchange vows and actually act on them? Answer me that.
