A lot of black guys I've met who've either grown up around white people, love white people or wish they weren't black rock or have rocked an afro.

But it's not like their just trying to grow out their hair. It's not styled like

It always looks old school, like the tried to achieve the Corbin Bleu

But realized that their hair is too nappy and just picked it out.

It ends up looking like this:

Is this a good indicator of not having many black friends? Or just not having access to a good barber?
:lupe:

Has anyone else noticed this as well?

Disclaimer: Not every afro wearing black man comes across as this. Just the ones with a lack of swag seem to often rock an afro.

When did afros go from a symbol of Black Power...

I mean I wear my hair similar to the dudes in the OP except I have curls since I'm 4B. I get what you're saying though.
I didn't include girls because of the natural hair movement and I'm talking about the dudes. Most guys are just starting to wear their hair longer now. Or growing it out for locks.

I'm not saying guys who wear afros don't have black friends, I'm saying a lot of black guys who don't have a lot of black friends like to wear a fro.

Also, I know a lot of white people who say "If I was black, I'd wear a fro", or "you should wear an afro", so I wonder if that's where it comes from?

OP I think you really reaching....the non picked out afros have been the style for a minute.

It's also a good indicator of the dude not giving a fukk what people think...because when I was in high school, you was getting roasted for having a afro that wasnt picked out or combed...

But im glad afro styles, hightops are coming back. Always had that high and tight cut in the military, but soon as I got out I started rocking that nappy twist out fade...:ohlawd:

I know what you mean.

Cuz dudes without black friends don't frequent the barber shop.

You hang around black dudes they're gonna clown you if your hairlines messed up or your beards uneven. I don't think white people care or notice stuff like that.
