I know what you mean.

Cuz dudes without black friends don't frequent the barber shop.

You hang around black dudes they're gonna clown you if your hairlines messed up or your beards uneven. I don't think white people care or notice stuff like that.

I work with this dude who wears a picked out and patted down, spherical fro. He's cool, but only knows Top 40 and weed music and doesn't really know much about Hip Hop hits. He's also a bit of a punk. I found his Facebook and saw he was the token black guy in most of his pics and he was in drama and show choir. Me and my mom both went "Oh... That's why." Everything kinda clicked and he also reminded me of this dude lol.

And I realized a lot of dudes I know from white neighborhoods or weeaboos had fros. Also the topic was touched on with the dude Everybody hates Chris plays on Dear White People.

I didn't include girls because of the natural hair movement and I'm talking about the dudes. Most guys are just starting to wear their hair longer now. Or growing it out for locks.

Guys have been growing there hair out FAR longer than BW's "natural hair movement" :heh:

If anything, BW's natural hair movement is a signifier for White acceptance :dead:

I have a fro.

Had it since I was a kid. Also, a lot of the stuff you see is weird fade styles and overgrown faux hawks.

Don't ave anything to really say about the style. Just my preferred style.

Also, fukking barbers need to expand their repertoire to be able to properly trim and shape up an afro style.

A lot of black guys I've met who've either grown up around white people, love white people or wish they weren't black rock or have rocked an afro.

But it's not like their just trying to grow out their hair. It's not styled like

It always looks old school, like the tried to achieve the Corbin Bleu

But realized that their hair is too nappy and just picked it out.

It ends up looking like this:

Is this a good indicator of not having many black friends? Or just not having access to a good barber?
:lupe:

Has anyone else noticed this as well?

Disclaimer: Not every afro wearing black man comes across as this. Just the ones with a lack of swag seem to often rock an afro.

When did afros go from a symbol of Black Power...

As soon as u get into the white areas of NYC u see 'those types' pop up out of nowhere.

The current mayor of NYC has a son who is the poster child of 'those types' u mentioned.

The "lack of swag" remark kinda sealed the deal. Ill let you cook though :sas2:
Questlove, Jimmy Hendrix, Michael Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, even Snoop and Luda all rocked fros with swag.

Swag is style, confidence, it's how you rock your individualism so that it becomes a trend because others want to be like you. Personally, I think swag in inherent when you have pride in yourself and your culture. That's why people end up being corny when they try to be something they're not.

This isn't an attack on individualism

Token black dudes tend to be goofy, self-deprecating or stiff. If they rocked their fros with swag then I wouldn't have made this thread.
