Sonic 1,2,3 and Sonic & Knucles go toe to toe with Mario 3 and Super Mario World IMO

i wouldn't be mad if someone prefers them early sonic games over the mario ones. they were dope. sega made the right choice in dumping alex the kid and running with sonic. of course mario world trumps, but 1-3 can go either way (i know they were run on different gens but still).

and yeah sonic generations is dope as fukk. i personally wouldn't put it over galaxy but again, i wouldn't be mad if someone prefers it. sonic colors wasn't bad either.

Sonic came on in the 16Bit era brehs...i think its unfair to compare those to mario 1-3. Now Mario World 1 and 2 (Yoshi's island) would be better comparisons...and i think the art style of Yoshi's island alone trumps sonic...not to say that the sonics werent amazing

graphics have nothing to do with that comparison. there are tons of 8-bit & 16-bit games that shyt on games that came out within the past 5 years. gameplay > graphics

agreed on Yoshi's Island, most visually appealing out of all Mario games

Sonic 2 is my favorite game of all time. I mean nothing can make me feel as good and take me back more than that game. Super Mario world is a close second. I feel like after the initial 3 Sonics and knuckles it started falling off. Mario gained momentum and is still putting out quality games.
