Maybe you missed the board meeting but it's a partnership. Both companies brought something to the table that will benefit both companies. Microsoft with the Azure's cloud computing and A.I., and Sony with the image sensor tech and patents from OnLive and Gaiki the will help xCloud (XBox's streaming service). Also read that this will help game developers when making multiplat games for both Xbox and PlayStation

On top of that people don't understand is Microsoft's goal is to be the platform holder for cloud services. Cloud just means them running the service and not your PC or hardware. PlayStation will use the same XCloud tech as Xbox therefore their will be no cloud advantage on either platform.
