the movie made a billy due to marvels influence of course you would go back after the contract is ended and try to re-negotiate who the hell wants to pay all the production cost and only get 5 percent of the profits, now they going to be netflix/hulu status talking about some "remember when the red flying guy mentored you" oh shyt bout to be sooo cringe :wow:

wakanda is now going to be "some mysterious nation with a leader in a cat suit"

no reference to any avengers

welp i'll wait for it to come on bootleg :mjlol:
Huh, what does wakanda have to do with it

:lupe:

Honestly guys, I think Sony is doing this because they clearly want a "SPIDERMAN -V- VENOM" movie. They dropped the ball with "Spidey 3" quality wise (It still did huge box office) and fans have been waiting for a hardbody Vemon/Carnage V Spidermana flick for years. "Venom" success has really reshaped Sony's thinking on doing a "Spiderman Universe". Also now they can do a "Sinister Six" movie like they were trying to set up after "Amazing Spiderman 2". Honestly Spidey catalog is so rich, it can be it's own Universe. "Venom 2" has already been greenlit and Ceaser aka Andy Serkis is directing. Also LOL @ Sony being "Greedy" like Disney is some small indie studio strapped for cash.

They dont pay the production cost. The deal was that Sony pays the production cost of the movies and marvel gets creative control of the production, with Sony approving the final product.

I'd understand if Disney was offering to take on half the cost of production for half the profit, but it seems like they want Sony to finance the movies while they take half the profit.

SONY ENTERTAINMENT RELEASES STATEMENT ON SOCIAL MEDIA:

Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise. We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live action Spider-Man film. (1/3)

We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him – including all their newly added Marvel properties – do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own. (2/3)

Kevin is terrific and we are grateful for his help and guidance and appreciate the path he has helped put us on, which we will continue. (3/3)

Well there you have it. Sony will not give up whatever percentage they want from the Spider-man Film Rights. It's just not good for their studio. If the rumored 50/50 split was the deal or offer than that obviously hurts them and helps Disney. That's not gonna work for them. They are also saying media reports aren't fully accurate but this statement lets me know they weren't feeling the Disney offer. I guess Kevin is out as Producer on the future sequels and projects now. But the last statement leaves the door kind of open. I wonder who leaked this to the media. Damn this is wild. Supposedly Tom Holland is signed on for 2 more Spidey movies. So that would leave Venom 2, Spidey 3: Back Home? and then of course Spidey V Venom obviously.

It's probably because the original deal expired and was due to be renegotiated anyway.

A 50/50 split is a outrageous deal if that's to be believed.

I dont understand why Disney needs that much money, Sony was paying the production cost and marvel had the right to use spiderman however they saw fit with someone else's wallet.

It would be reasonable if they asked for something like 80/20 considering it's not Disney paying the cost of the spiderman movies, they just get a percentage of the profits and creative control.

Sony should offer Disney 50/50 for the rights to all future marvel video games. Spiderman already did great as an exclusive, might as well have the entire marvel universe exclusive to playstation.

Even still if the leaked details are to be believed, I dont see how you can see Disney wanting to go from %5 to %50 of the profit from movies dont even finance, and call Sony greedy for backing out.

I'm in the minority but I don't even care from the standpoint that I was not and will never be a fan of the direction they were headed in with Pete. The films may as well have been titled 'Iron Man Jr.' He got in deep way too early and imo, they missed the boat on what made the character so endearing early in his career. They got the personality quirks right, but I was never on board with the character becoming Tony Stark junior and they completely jumped the shark with me after they revealed his identity. Almost like they were saying, "fukk it. " Spiderman is my favorite comic book hero right in front of Punisher, but while I don't trust Sony, I'm not mad that they're going to have to hit reset to some degree. Peter Parkers tribute act to Tony Stark just wasn't for me.

:unimpressed:I know people hate sony, but we’re all gonna act like the first 2 Sony Spider-Man movies weren’t good/great and weren’t popular as fukk?

The Andrew Garfield movies were trash but marvel didn’t pull spider man from their ass like the guardians.

Spider-Man will be a relevant and money making character anywhere.
I must be the only person on this forum that thought the original spider man movies were trash and the andrew garfield movies were better
