Even still if the leaked details are to be believed, I dont see how you can see Disney wanting to go from %5 to %50 of the profit from movies dont even finance, and call Sony greedy for backing out.

The 5% and 50% are based on different amounts. 5% "first-dollar gross" is based on the opening (normally) and 50% is based on the profit after all costs from what I have seen. With 50% the costs were to be shared (co-financed) which is not the same as with the 5%.

"According to Deadline, the two studios reportedly disagreed on terms: Disney wanted a 50-50 cofinancing agreement, while Sony reportedly proposed to maintain the current terms, which allows Marvel to have 5% of first-dollar grosses."
Has Marvel Just Lost Spider-Man for Good?

"First-dollar gross is a practice in filmmaking in which the participant receives a percentage of the gross box office revenue from a film's first day of release.[1][2]"
"Some contracts define "first dollar" as a net figure after certain expense deductions rather than a true distributor's gross.[9]"
First-dollar gross - Wikipedia

TL;DR It's not a straight-line 5% to 50%.

fukk sony them movies trash anyway. Without the Disney tie in the movies won't do even close to what they are making now.

Disney wanted nore cause the movies are doing a billy with that marvel studio tag.

Sony wanted to keep the deal as it was cause they getting a huge cut off a billy grossing film. Sony believes they can ride all the positive fan fair from the former marvel studio connection and wave.

In the end spiderman gonna be a honda accord with a ford taurus engine and quality.

Marvel studios and Feigen are the ones that pull the strings to make hits. Not the characters. These kats literally made guardians of the galaxy and captain marvel billy franchises.

Nope this was Sony's highest grossing film and it had to do with the fact Marvel made this move plus it tied in after Endgame. None of Sony's spiderman man movies have grossed this much. Sony just gets a free paycheck after all it is Marvel's character
The first 3 Spiderman movies made more than Homecoming when adjusted for inflation:unimpressed:

They just did a Venom movie that grossed $856M:unimpressed:

As part of the deal Marvel also got 100% of merchandise profits.

:mjtf: Tom hollander was an excellent spidey

i don't want a 4th reboot:hhh:

He's signed on for at least one, possibly 2 more films. Sony wouldn't have to do any recasting.

the movie made a billy due to marvels influence of course you would go back after the contract is ended and try to re-negotiate who the hell wants to pay all the production cost and only get 5 percent of the profits, now they going to be netflix/hulu status talking about some "remember when the red flying guy mentored you" oh shyt bout to be sooo cringe :wow:

who was responsible for the movies that were actually good and made people give a fukk about Peter Parker :gucci:

Marvel made that character hot in the streets and part of something bigger and better than Sony ever did :gucci:
We really crediting the MCU for making Spiderman popular:scust:

He was one of the most popular superheroes before Sony's movies came out. The movie in 02 was the first movie to ever gross $100M in a weekend but we giving credit to the MCU:hhh:

So if Sony says fukk Marvel, gives the reins to Lord and Miller who handled Spider-Verse, and brings back the cast, except Happy, y'all really wouldn't see that:unimpressed:

Disney literally produces the entire film, gives it to Sony and Sony then markets it and distributes it and profits off of it, with Disney receiving only as much as 5% of the gross of the film, if it passes certain milestones.

So, SONY makes 95% of the profits on a movie made for them :picard:

Sony owns the film rights to Spiderman.

Disney received 5% and ALL of the merchandising profits.

Disney's new offer was a 50/50 split for Spiderman and all other characters in the Spiderman universe, which would include Venom, which just grossed $856M while keeping all of the merchandising.

Now that more is coming out you can see that Disney was clearly in the wrong here. Sony did what any smart corporation would do and were vilified, but I believe that they'll get this done in the end. Disney asking for 50/50 was absolutely ridiculous and was just asking to be rejected.

Fine let Sony have Spider-Man :mjlit: Disney will just get it back again in 7 years once they ruin the next next reboot.

he worked perfectly in the mcu, the reboot wasn't all that good honestly and I wasn't all that hyped about the sinister six, having him in the mcu gave him a open world full of other interesting characters and the possibilities were limitless now it's back to a secluded world were only those in the spider verse exist

I was there for this
