I’m sure games will come to PlayStation fiirst but they won’t be staying on the platform. Anything they release is a timed exclusive at best at this point. The thing is PC gamers can play the waiting game all day because there so much games that drop on steam. The question is how long does Sony want to wait on fully maximize software profits closer to or day and date. Waiting a year or two definitely kills the buzz for certain games released on PC. Spider Man - 2 would have definitely sold more on PC closer to its release on PS5.
Most games that drop on Steam drop on PS5 too. There's rarely a game that comes out that's big that isn't on consoles as well. That same logic of "there's plenty of games" can apply to any platform.
Most people want to play big games when they come out, not 1 year later. The FOMO and hype cycle with people wanting to be apart of the discussion and not get spoiled is why a lot of those big games are big on PS5. Same with movies, how many people waited to watch something like Avengers of a major MCU movie on digital streaming vs just going to the movies when it came out?
Also the "If the game drops day 1 on PC it will sell better" logic is faulty.
Concord flopped the fukk out day 1 on Steam.
Lego Horizon flopped day 1 on Steam.
Ghosts of Tsushima did great on Steam launching 4 years later.
Red Dead Redemption 1 was pretty successful I heard on Steam almost 15 years later.
Stellar Blade dropped a year later on Steam and sold very well.
It's nothing to do with timing, it's to do with the game itself.
