I don’t see this working out in Sonys favor long term. Microsoft can afford to eat the losses that gamepass brings. Can Sony?

Nope.
How so? They are dominating the console space, they don’t have a gamepass, and they still have timed exclusives coming in. Plus they are the cheapest way to go for Triple AAA games.

People are not buying hardware based off exclusive games.

I know, this goes against everything the sony cult has taught you over the years, but yall gotta let that go.

You don’t think sony has numbers on this? You think they expect a mass exodus if they put their games elsewhere?

The U.S. government paid for an independent study about people’s gaming habits, and they concluded people don’t/wont switch platforms based on exclusive games.

You stan’s are a relic of the past, you are no longer relevant :manny:

Sony has a $350 console. To run the same games on PC at the same PS5 specs requires $800

I don’t know what you’re trying to prove here? At the end of the day Sony will still sell a lot of consoles. It’s still a lower cost to gaming initially than PC is. However in the longterm PC is cheaper. The games are cheaper than consoles plus there’s no subscription you have to pay for online. So yea you spend that 800 but that 800 for PlayStation specs at the same time you are getting the following.

Cheaper Games
No Online Subscription
The ability to play the whole PlayStation library from PS1 - PS5
Mods
Retro Emulation

So yes the initial cost is pricey but you save in the long run.

You entire post here contradicts the topic which is being misinterpreted by Sony faithfuls. Sony has repeatedly said they are moving away from hardware. Your post speaks like the opposite of that so I have to call bulshyt on what you said. All 3 console makers make profits. Sony doesn't make more than Nintendo so people only really care if it sold more than Xbox. Xbox sees what PC makes because worldwide PC makes console gaming look like a joke at best. All 3 combined can't compare to PC and Microsoft peeped this first and tested the waters, got the results.

Sony fans, didn't wukong sell 10 million in 3 days?

The time of "people don't want to be bothered with PC" is false. PCs was not standard in houses until the 2000s. Any kid with access to game be it PC or.... fukkin via Tubi :yeshrug: there's a gaming section on my Vizio TV my kids found and play sometimes. That barrier isn't the same for this generation and upgrading a PC is not hard at all

Regardless we're in the streaming future now and PC has the largest amount of users so that's where the industry is going regardless o if you're on board or not. I'm a console gamer, been one since the early 80s. So I'm not saying this because I'm a PC head. I hate sifting thru all these crappy pc games to find a good console game but that's how it is on Xbox
The storefront is what's valuable and Sony has the strorefront that most gravitate towards to if they're in the high end console gamer market. The 30% cut from games purchases and microtransaction is valuable. I think we're many years away when gaming consoles become niche because technology is not there for cloud gaming to work seamless. Sony of course will have to prepare for that future, but that seems to be decades away.

I agree that console market has remained stagnant and pc is one of the biggest growth market when it comes to gaming. However, PC gaming prices is still not there for many to leave console market for it. In this economy it seems harder to make the jump but I feel eventually it will happen but not for a long time. I think Sony should be fine for PS6.

Not many people want to spend $800
Not many people want to research parts.
Not many people want to deal with software
People dont want to deal with hackers.

Cheaper games? What makes you think Sony will lower prices on PC? Spiderman 2 on PC is still $60.

And Im not sure why you're pretending like PlayStation deals dont exist or gamers can wait for sales.

To spend $800 for marginally better graphics is silly. If you are going PC you need to spend $4k for it to be justified.

You have other stores you can games on pc like greenman and cdkeys that you can use on steam also if you want to sail the seas and no buy a single game you could do that to without having to jailbreak a PC. I know people don’t want to do what you said I’m not against anything what your are saying. When getting a PC there’s more than just gaming to consider.

You’re the biggest stan on this website to the point where nobody has ever seen you be critical of the company you stan.

Even known Microsoft stans online like KidSmoove and Crapgamer are like what the hell are they doing but you tow the company line even when they reverse direction and abandon anything that makes Xbox unique.

It’s not even that people don’t buy consoles for exclusive games it’s that people don’t buy Xbox for exclusive games. Nintendo has existed since the N64 mostly off exclusive games. Sony got in the lead position they enjoy now off them and the Xbox 360 both lived and died by them.

Traded in my broken Ps5 and some games, only had to pay $300.

So no, not out of $800 total.
