Link me to these VR headsets. TO my understanding the Rift is the only one you can buy that is actually VR, and not just a big projection of a screen
I played with VR at Dave n Busters almost 15 years ago. The tech has is nothing new. It's good that Sony and OR, and presumably Microsoft(there are plenty of other companies trying their hand at it too) are trying to push the tech toward the mainstream. But I just don't see it catching on for most people.

Consumer level VR headsets ARE new, the fukk are some of you talking about?

That's why Oculus has been such a big deal, affordable VR has not been available to the public, ever.
Oculus has been a big deal to a very small subset of gamers.

Is a $400+ gaming peripheral truly a mainstream consumer level product?

No, Oculus rift is a pretty big deal in the PC arena.

And why are you saying "$400+" when the Oculus dev kit is 350, and the goal is to get it out under 300. Sony is going to try and get their project out under the cost of a PS4 :wtf:

How can any gamer not be excited about this at that price?

Take the Stan blinders off. This shyt is impressive. It would be impressive if ANY company demoed it.

VR has been a gamer's dream since forever. I'm :mindblown: that people aren't at least hyped about the possibilities.

Even in the PC arena it's not something that all or even the majority of people will buy.

And $300 isn't a good mainstream price for a peripheral either, when you need to spend at least $400 on other equipment to make it work, even more so when we are talking about the PC space.

So let me get this straight breh, in a community where people will buy multiple monitors and multiple graphics cards, you don't think a large portion of the community will buy a VR headset, seems logical :merchant: . Just because you're building your first lil gaming PC doesn't mean you know the community, if the tech is supported it will sell.

:russ: Sure breh, we live in a time where people are buying annual phones for $350. An affordable VR headset will sell, no amount of you spewing your rhetoric will change that.

VR can be 'mainstream' at that price if it can come up with the 'killer app(s)'. that's the other piece that's missing at the moment

cause the PS4 has no gamez :troll:

The overwhelming majority of PC gamers do not fit in that category. The overwheing majority of PC gamers don't even have equipment that could run the OR with any kind of quality/reliability.

Most people aren't spending $350 on phones. And if they did have $350 for electronics they'd buy a phone before a VR headset. I'm not saying VR won't sell. I'm saying it is a niche product. It has very limited mainstream appeal at any price.
