AAA remakes weren’t making any money and they couldn’t land on a promising pitch to sony.

They’d be in the same place without be purchased by sony.

If anything the sony acquisition helped them live a bit longer than would have.
I don't think he read the article of the employees saying they pitched the GOW GAAS to Sony and constantly missed their deadline leading to Sony cancelling the project. I even showed him the numbers from the last few projects they had didn't sell enough and he's still debating it. At this point he's arguing for the sake of it. At the end of the day if you're not selling enough of your products to be successful you're going to go out of business. That's business 101. Like you said Meach if Sony didn't purchase them they would have went out of business sooner. If another publisher bought them out. The results would have still been the same probably. The solution to this problem is to ACTUALLY SUPPORT THE DEVELOPER AND PURCHASE THEIR GAMES! I even put it in all caps because @winb83 keeps glossing over this one fact to argue. :mjlol:

Just like BioWare pitched Anthem and desperately wanted to make it as well as make a Dragon Age live service game.

You working for a company and their focus shifts to live service you either get down or lay down. As a studio as you can see with Bluepoint if you’re just sitting idle you’re likely to be shut down so yeah you pitch them an idea they’re more receptive to.

As a leader putting them on a live service game when they have zero experience on that or even really multiplayer games is dumb. It’s like you’re down 7 with a minute forty left in the game and you have Shaq jacking up 3s in a come back attempt. Sure you want 3s but that’s not the man to do it and if he pitches the idea you shut it down and have him do something appropriate to his skill set.

So they bit off more than they can chew. Even when they shifted to GAAS they still were pumping out single player games still...Sony gave them a shot and fronted them the bread. Then when it's time to show your work you have constant delays.... again you're not Naughty Dog, Insomniac, or Sucker Punch they have the caché to delay because they produce numbers.

In case you hadn't notice most of the company shifted to live service games. Naughty Dog wasted years on one. Almost all of their notable adult AAA franchises were getting them from Horizon to Last of Us to God of War the list went on.

Sony shutting down Bluepoint is as tone-deaf as Microsoft shutting down Tango Gameworks. They have a single bad game and it's from 20 years ago.
