A church worships and believes in the words of a God. Especially one of historic and cultural folklore. Cults worship and believe in the words of a living person who claims to have a spiritual connection with God or the world. Money don't matter.

I hesitate to call Mormonism a legit Christian sect rather than a cult of its founder. And them cats practicly built Las Vegas and run the states of Nevada and Utah.

From the perspective of a non-believer, there's not much difference between Joseph Smith and Jesus Christ, both are considered prophets who were preaching the word of god.
