Congratulations, must be a proud moment for you. I was in the same position as a kid, I think it was like 20 white kids and me my first year.
It'll be fine as long as he's comfortable and relaxed there. I took things too seriously and had a hard time in the beginning. Don't worry too much about anybody else.

What makes him so smart? Did he start reading as an infant? Does he display savant-like abilities with music or mathematics? Can he freestyle?

I was one of 6 black kids in my grade at a prestigious Private school from K through 12... I learned that progressive white parents like doing this thing called "small talk"... Most of the time they are fishing for info to learn more about you, usually trying to find something to relate to so you can become "acquaintances"... And they can say their kid has a black friend... Get used to it[

Also, weren't you just on here bragging about how fresh your child's "shoe game" was? start buying him books... Not shoes...

Listen, everyone says this is just a website, and not to take it seriously. And I don't.

I may troll, make silly threads, and make nonsensical post. But I'll NEVER troll or BS, when it comes to my son. He has plenty of reading books and activity books at home.

I'm pretty sure he didn't get a referral to take the test, based on his sneakers.

I was chosen for one of these programs when I was in grade 4 and got perfect on all the standardized tests, including the bonus questions. Then they gave me the IQ test. I qualified for the "gifted" school. I went there one day...and I was not feeling the atmosphere. Most of them kids was fukking WEIRD...and I decided I'd rather have a regular social life than become an egghead who could only relate to other gifted nerds. So, I told my mother that I wanted to stay in regular school. shyt in grade 2, they wanted me to skip TWO grades...but again, I said "nah bro" as I realized it would not be a good social situation for the kid.

I don't regret my decision.

If your kid is really smart he will be really smart regardless of whether he goes to public school or a special school, as long as you recognize his talents, nurture them, and keep in contact with his teachers and schools so that they know how to nurture him as well. As someone who works closely with the school system, teachers treat children of concerned parents MUCH better than kids whose parents don't make that effort.

Good luck.

Well this is for him to get into a kindergarten. At that age, kids don't give a fukk about other kids being weird. They just want someone to play with.

When he gets older, and if he feels all out of place and lonely, I wouldn't mind him goin to regular public school.

My son reads and writes now:manny: He'll be 5 in March tho.

Its not like they're being tested to see if they can read, on a college level. Its for kids that are maybe reading/writing 1 or 2 grade levels ahead.

Ms Rock Star I genuinely hope your son is accepted to the school.

I also hope he becomes an excellent member of society and finds himself a woman as strong and providing as his mum, minus the girth and plastic weave.

No ducktales but the "humble brag"

Affirmative action got him his place.

:wow:

If this is true, he must have taken after his father.

:whew:

:laff: can he freestyle.
