Sorry but I can't put Andre 3000 in a Top 10 list over a Solo artist

It just doesn't make sense to me. An artist in a Group can not be put higher on a Top 10 list than a solo artist. Their body of work is made with another person, while a solo artist stands alone with his own work
If anything, Hip Hop groups should be in their own Top 10 list

1. In a group, you are one entity. Whether in a group of 2, or 3, or 4, fans see you as one act. That's in any genre. In Hip Hop, it's like you're each other's ghostwriter. You can bounce ideas of each other daily on what to write or what to say on your songs. Your ideas are shared in a group setting. The classic verses in a group album are in one thought

2. In a group, there are so many rhymes to go around. Andre had the luxury to be paired with another legendary rapper Big Boi. In a song of 3 verses, you had the luxury of rhyming one verse, and sharing the final verse with Big Boi. Andre never had to make a song with 3 full verses all by himself. How the hell do we know how he would hold up in an album with 15 full length songs of all 3 verses of his own?. Busta explains it well

Starts at 5:20

3. No artists that are/were part of a group ever received top 10 status till they put out a string of solo albums. Anyone in the Wu-Tang would not have been thought of as Top 10 had they not have put out an album of they're own. Ghostface wouldn't have been there without IronMan, Supreme Clientele, Fishscale, etc etc. Prodigy is a great example also. In a legendary group Mobb Deep, but now thought of as a Top 10 rapper cause of his classic debut solo album in 2000, H.N.I.C., plus his other works. You think Micheal Jackson would be who he is, if he was still on the Jackson 5? :comeon:

4. This is not to say that Andre 3000 couldn't have been successful going solo, but he sacrificed him becoming Top 10 status by being in a group. Outkast as a group are deff Top 10 status, obviously. But as it is now, sorry Andre ain't in the discussion. There's still time for Andre to put out a string of solo albums, no one's stopping him

So you think Prodigy shouldn't have been considered "Top 10" status before HNIC?
That's what you're saying? Just fucc his rhymes on the 3 albums before that?

Or what about Ice Cube? He was the engine to NWA, and he left and put out solo product. Okay.
But in considering his post-NWA work for "Top 10" argument - you don't include anything from Bow Down?

Iono about this, mayne.

I agree with OP:manny:

It's much easier to write a total of 300 bars for an album (15 tracks on a cd...in a 2 man group, you typically only contribute 20 bars a track....in a 3 man group only 16 bars a track which is only 240 bars) while a solo artist on a similar 15 track cd has to contribute 720 bars (48 bars a track).:yeshrug:

Jadakiss, with the Lox, had HEAVY hype due to the fact he killed every 16 he spit....but yet when it was time for him to carry an entire album on his own, he never could at the same quality he did on the Lox tapes

Summer '88... or was it '89?
Or was it wintertime? Ah, never mind..
I'm, in my room, boomin', drawin' LL Cool J album covers with crayolas on construction paper
I'm tryna fukk my neighbor, I'm tryna hook my waves up
I'm tryna pull my grades up, to get them saddle lace ups
Before lil' Marc was Jacob, before them girls wore makeup
Before my voice would break up, before we'd tour them shake clubs
Before my mama wake up, before my crumbs would cake up
Before they tell me they love me and we'll never break up
Before the time she makes love, to someone that I thought was, my homeboy
But boy was, I wrong now
I don't budge, don't want much, just a roof, and a porch
And a Porsche, and a horse, and unfor-tunately,
But of course, an assort-ment of tor-ches that scor-ches the skin, when they en-ter
Intru-ders, whose tu-tors did a lousy job
How's he God if he lets Lucifer let loose on us?
That noose on us won't loosen up but loose enough to juice us up
Make us think we do so much and do it big
Like they don't let us win, I can't pretend
But I do admit it, it feel good when the hood pseudo-celebrate
Hence why every time we dine we eat until our belly ache
Then go grab the finest wine and drink it like we know which grape and which region it came from as if we can name em, hint hint, it ain't um
Welch's, hell just fell three thousand more degrees cooler
Y'all can't measure my worth
But when you try, you'll need a ruler made by all the Greek gods
Be-cause the odds have always been stacked against me when back's against the wall
I feel right at home, y'all sitting right at home
All Kelly green with envy while I'm jelly beans descending
Into the palm of a child, looks up at mama and smile
With such a devilish grin, like "Where the hell have you been?"
She's yelling "Selling's a sin!", well so is telling young men
That selling is a sin, if you don't offer new ways to win
A dolphin gon' shake his fin, regardless if he gets in
Or out of water, most important thing for him is to swim
And Flipper didn't hold his nose, so why should I hold my tongue?
I miss the days of old, when one could hold his gal on his arm
And not set off these alarms, when cameras snap snap snap snap
Return fire, pa-pa-pa, pa, pa-pa, pa, pa, pa
They'll learn why, near privacy, so essential
They won't make no laws, I break their laws till they see out our window
I take the fall to make them all treat human kind more gentle
Forsake them all, I hate them all, don't like em don't pretend to
Yea something tells me, we ain't in Kansas anymore
All that shyt that used to be cool ain't cool anymore
All the women you been pursuing, now they want more
And they deserve it all, don't settle for what ain't yours

And what's wrong with just saying Ice Cube and Prodigy (Had they not become solo artists) are Top 10 all time legendary group members of their respective groups?
Why is there a need for group members to be placed in the same level as a solo artists?

I don't get it

That is a blazing hot verse....no doubt:banderas:

But could he write 44 more verses at that same quality for his solo album (15 tracks x 3 verses a track = 45 total verses)?:mjpls:

That's what we will never know:yeshrug:

it's not the amount of verses you can write that puts you in the top 10 though
