a number of poor people use what little money they have on frivolous investments (lottery which in itself is a huge problem because it can be used as way to avoid tax increases and defunding programs) or cope with the day to to day stress of being a working poor person in American does not in the slightest sway my view point on the current economic system, nor do I believe that it's the common cold for everyday inconsistencies or problems a person may have, when itself thrives off of malfunction and disorder.

it should never be about who's more deserving than the other in regards to poor and working people. that's a neoliberal outlook to have in regards to income inequality

and it's not about throwing money at the problem, that's the UBI/Reparations trap that essentially allows the state to wipe it's hands off of any wrong doing or further predatory practices, it's about allocate and establishing networks for resources and opening access to get people on the up and up.

and what you consider "reality" is based on your own limited viewpoint on the possibility of better.

but "we" rather protect and continue to coddle the wealthy,

So what about a well off person who drinks themselves to poverty?

I used to date a mortgage banker that would go to sweepstakes casinos every weekend and blow thousands of dollars on the slots.

I have a cousin right now who received 150,000 in life insurance money when his mom died and he just lost the family house. He was working the entire time he just blew money on women and exotic weed.

I mean what's your solution to this? How can we have economic equality when some people are wired to just blow money as fast as possible in a variety of ways?

I'm genuinely curious

Went in expecting to hate it, but it's so ridiculous and surreal I had to appreciate it.

:ohhh: what's it about

"Collin must make it through his final three days of probation for a chance at a new beginning. He and his troublemaking childhood best friend, Miles, work as movers, and when Collin witnesses a police shooting, the two men’s friendship is tested as they grapple with identity and their changed realities in the rapidly-gentrifying neighborhood they grew up in."

It's fantastic breh.

you can't use anecdotal evidence as a discrepancy for why we shouldn't have and further extend satey nets to create more avenues to lift people from their current predicament

but there would be programs of some sort to help these people, much like the wet houses that treated alcoholics in London/England.

I don't know why (I do but I'm humoring you) you try to differentiate between someone who is well off and someone who isn't, as if there's some biological difference

You keep saying I'm using anecdotal evidence, but how much of the world have you actually seen as a grown man with 3 kids that doesn't work? And I'm not saying that as a diss, I had my son mad young and it definitely limited my experiences for a while.

You operate on this assumption that all people that are well off must steal it from others and it's not always the case.

If someone gave me and you $1000 apiece and tracked us for a month and I take my 1000 and buy a half a pound of weed and slow roll it to you an 8th at a time, and at the end of the month I have 1800 and you only have 200, was a crime committed? Do I have to give you 1800 instead of 1000 to compensate for your choices?

As far as places to help, they already exist. If a person wants to go there are plenty of programs to help addicts get on their feet. Do we hire people to round them up and force them to get treatment?

And as far as safety nets I'm all for them, but I believe the end goal should be to position people to where they can operate independently, like aid tied to job training programs and nutrition classes. Not for the government to take care of people their entire life like they're overgrown children.

And you might not like to hear it, but there are biological differences in people. Some are more prone to addiction, some people are compulsive liars, some people are drawn to risky behavior, some people are just boring. Some people are innate geniuses, some are dumb as a box of rocks. Most of us are somewhere in the middle.

There is no one size fits all solution without seriously infringing on people's rights.
