He was like 17 when he signed, so it's in everybody's best interest to have that in place for him. There's a better chance when he grows up that he would make wiser purchasing decisions.

Also, it's in a label's best interest to protect their artist from making dumb decisions since their value can depreciate. I understand what you're saying it's not their responsibility, but if you sign these artists when they're young, then I feel labels should put stuff in place for them. Of course, the reality is that's most likely not available to them. I also feel the same way about sports where teams should have programs in place to protect players on their team.
There's literally NO EVIDENCE that this is the case throughout the history of music.

You'll see more evidence of labels enabling drug use and womanizing.

Hell, when labels assign agents/managers to their artists, it's to entangle them and making sure ALL deals help the labels' bottom-line, not to protect them.

Again, these labels want your business, you aren't their legacies. You can feel a way about it, but, I think that comes from regular human epiphany. The question you should ask is about his parent/guardian, not a record label.

These record labels sign thousands of artists who's work never see the light of day. One artist ain't that important.

Hell, Taylor Swift deals with record label fukkery.

I agree with most of that because at the end of the day it's a business, and all they care about is the bottom line. However, I don't think it would hurt to run workshop for their artists about stuff like that. However, like you said it's also on parents for getting kids into entertainment industry and not having a watchful eye on the fukkery that goes on.

Sad to see because I feel a lot of these entertainers that start off young end up broke. I know labels don't care, but they should set these guys up with financial advisors to manage their assets. These guys need to learn it's not worth it to be flashing designer and luxury items because that's a quick way to go broke.
Does your job do that for you lol the hell mine doesn’t! They also don’t care how I spend my earnings

Artist Development is gone and never coming back.

That's why they're waiting for artists to get hot and then sign them.

I remember when Epic(?) signed Dej Loaf after Try Me got hot. And instead of waiting to make a more mainstream friendly song, they had her singing about mass murder on The Tonight Show. :laff:

The days of Motown having all their artists move in and teaching them all the parts of being a performer are over

All the pitfalls of rap artists are online and available for the public--only dummies ignore them
