Hockey is a much more random sportThis belief is so regressive and wrongheaded. Whenever I talk with hockey fans, they're always talking about expansion and growing the NFL game. There's no downside to expanding basketball and football. It's a net benefit the NBA market share grow.

Hfboards is notorious for shytting on southern Hockey teams. So much so that even mentioning relocation for the Coyotes or Panthers get you banned. They want relocation not expansion. If anything they want expansion to even up the conferences. The west only has 14 teams but the East has 16.Hfboards is notorious for shytting on southern Hockey teams. not enough superstars/stars. they should contract
They should try to get a new team in Seattle & somewhere else for the Western conference so they can move Memphis & New Orleans to the Eastern conference before trying to put a pro team in Kentucky![]()

The NHL clearly wants expansion. The commissioner is already talking about Seattle. Hfboards guys are always talking about increasing the sport's profile; some of them even want to try Atlanta and Houston. They want to be bigger than the NBA and the biggest sport in the USA. As things stand, the NHL has already made inroads in the South. There are several successful franchises that have increased the sport's profile, fans' choices, players' opportunities and the league's overall profit. The NFL should copy that model. More teams is a net benefit for football fans.
It would increase the amount of people that complain that they can't win, and you can't compare a Finals appearance to a championship. When you have more areas that have no shot to win, you're decreasing incentive to go out and watch. People watch basketball still primarily to see their team hopefully winSince 1980, 9 teams have the NBA Finals. That's it. For comparison, 9 MLB teams have won the World Series since 2000, even though people complain about no salary cap. Expansion wouldn't hurt the talent or parity at all.
The pool isn't deep enough at the top to sustain that sort of expansion. In the NFL, MLB, NHL when you at the best players you'll see there isn't a huge difference at the top even though there's immortals among them. There's a massive gulf between the superstars and the all-stars. Other leagues have more players at the top without a massive decrease in talent. In the NBA we're way too desperate to put the Paul George's, Kevin Love's, and the James Hardens on a level we know they're not onPlus the NBA is the richest and best basketball league on the planet earth. Their talent pool is now worldwide. There's no shortage of players at all. I could see if it was a soccer/football league like La Liga, EPL, Serie A, etc where they have competition from each other but there's only one powerhouse uber rich basketball league.. and that's the NBA. Two extra teams is what 30 players.. a few will be pulled from existing franchises, so probably we're adding 20 new players into the league. That's not a bad thing. I could see if it was a NFL 60 man roster or some sh*t but this isn't as bad as some of ya'll are making it out to be.
People would still watch, because it's pro basketball. Like I said, 9 teams have won since 1980. Most of the league shouldnt be having fans come out, and yet they still doIt would increase the amount of people that complain that they can't win, and you can't compare a Finals appearance to a championship. That's because you have to be a special kind of awful to not see a playoff berth for a very long time.People would still watch, because it's pro basketball. Like I said, 9 teams have won since 1980. Most of the league shouldnt be having fans come out, and yet they still do
