Sources: NFL playoff changes likely

Roger Goodell said last week that the league will vote in March to expand the playoff field from 12 to 14 teams in 2015 and, with that, several league sources believe playoff reseeding will become a reality.

One formula that will be discussed in the offseason is that in addition to first-round byes for the teams with the best record in the AFC and NFC, two divisional champions in each conference will get home games and the remaining 8 teams will be seeded by win-loss record.

The playoff seeding idea has been tabled previously but proponents believe playoff expansion will provide a boost to change.

The winner of the NFC South this season will have an 8-8 record at best but will host a playoff game under the current seeding formula with rewards division champions.

The NFL has had 12 teams qualify for the postseason since 1990, when it expanded the field from 10, adding a third wild card in each conference to join three division champions.

I have no problem with an 8-8 team hosting a playoff game. If you didn't win your division you can't bytch and you SHOULD be able to go on the road and beat them. If they "shouldn't be in the playoffs" fine, go beat them then.

Edit: I don't mind the reseeding change. I see arguments both sides there, and I don't care one way or another. But we don't need extra teams in the postseason.

The one thing I like about the MLB is they rarely change shyt. The NFL is on top and seems hell bent on it changing just for the sake of greediness smh. I kinda can't wait for the bottom to fall out on the NFL just to humble the league.

they dont have to do much. top 2 in each conference get their bye, re-seed the rest based on record and tiebreakers. division winners get in but arent guaranteed home game.

So because stupid/unfair shyt has occurred in the past you should just let the stupid/unfair shyt continue? Plenty of people bytched about the Seahawks btw. The Pats was okay to most because Brady was out. Woulda been a whole lot of "woe is me" Bradyites bytching about that otherwise.

No need for a 7th team. All you gotta do is stop rewarding shytty divisions with automatic spots/home games and it's perfect but of course the NFL isn't actually interested in doing what makes sense or is fair so .
