The border between Thailand and Cambodia was established during the French colonial period in Cambodia. This demarcation has never been fully resolved, still leading to ongoing territorial disputes. Also the treaty France doctored has the Vihear Temple assigned to Cambodia but the surrounding areas remained uncontested. It’s doesn’t help that the Thai PM was seen kekeing with the Cambodian head of state earlier this year. Asians have a very strong sense of nationalism so that is basically considered treason to them. Now a Thai soldier patrolling the area stepped on mine set up by Cambodian soldiers is what I think broke the camels back
