Whoa! Wait a minute. Your cornbread ain't sweet? What kind of foolishness is this? I had non sweet cornbread one time and it was the worst, messed up my thanksgiving that year. Whether it's jiffy mix or made from scratch cornbread, it's got to be sweet. And I don't mean it has to taste like cake.

As a matter of fact when I make a regular pan of cornbread even with jiffy I add sugar and pure vanillla and they call it cornbread cake.

These folks here are spoiled, I make them what they want

Brisket, chicken wings, meatloaf, I don't eat pork but will make an exception for the honey glazed ham, mac and cheese, cornbread, green beans, roasted veggies, cranberry sauce, candied yams, baked beans, potato salad and whatever pie family brings

This thread is really eye opening. You really do learn something new. I got family in the south and west and it's always been known as dressin. Stuffing is cac shyt, that stovetop shyt with dehydrated onions and celery.

Real black folks make dressin with cornbread, gizzards, oysters, meat/veggie broth, jalapenos etc. Or they make it plain. Some do cheat and mix the stovetop box shyt with cornbread. I ain't trippin tho. But I will if I do the fork or spoon test to see how moist/dry the dressing is.

Never heard of sweet "cake" cornbread in my 35 years of life....It's always been regular savory cornbread, cracklin cornbread or maybe jalapeno cornbread..I've spreaded a lil syrup on my granny's cornbread and the savory taste meshed well with the syrup so maybe cake cornbread is alright

Just like the other poster said it might get REAL ugly round my way once someone in my fam takes a bite or two and realizes the fix is in
