Low key that nikka Tucka and Pokey got the south sewed up. From Houston to Alabama this is what older folk jam too.
This is no lie. My old man and younger cousins be jammin to this cat. I had tickets to go to a concert last year but couldn't make it. Sent the kite out to my family members and I got hit up so damn fast from every age group so quick for the tickets they started offering money. Sold em for $50 a piece.

Al Green is apart of that rich music history in Michigan

DOC is literally just a TX nikka in Ruthless records

That's the thing though DOC was Texas nikka that made Cali music and I didn't even know Al Green was born in Michigan until I got older. I always assumed he was from Memphis. You can listen to the difference between Al Green beats and say somebody from Motown beats. Most Northern Soul seems more dream like and smooth or romantic no homo. Southern soul is a little more rough around the edges, old school party music.

Al green is from Arkansas, near Memphis

It's a thin line between Gospel, Soul, and, Funk:ohlawd:tracks like these make it clear how Funk morphed from Southern Soul.

That more modern style of Southern Soul like op talkin bout, 88 shyt. I hate when nikkas call this the Blues. It's a difference between the Blues and Southern Soul. The Blues is just a man and his guitar, no horns and extra shyt.

Saw a bad dark caramel chick grinding to this on a IG story couple weeks ago

"The U.S. military’s use of term dates back to roughly 1939 when it was introduced to the U.S. Army by African-American soldiers during World War II. Originally, “Jody” was “Joe the Grinder,” and blues singers used to croon about him — a disreputable man who cuckolds prisoners and soldiers by stealing their wives and girlfriends. While he’s Joe simply because it’s a common name, the “Grinder” comes from the 19th century slang for sex. Jody literally grinds up on, and then, in your girl.
