I'm not hating on marriage but the idea of spending thousands on a ring is crazy. My boy spent 10K on a ring and it put him further in debt. He already has a car loan, student loans and now has to plan for a wedding and buying a house. Why should a man spend thousands on a ring when that money can be used towards a house, wedding or paying off other debt....

Your boy is dumbass, he knows he cant afford it and still buys it :camby:

The 🏝️ Of Relevancy

hey, sometimes you meet people that have it going on. You never know the vices and skeleton people have in their closets. I try not to judge a book by its cover. Well except for this book

And this book

I over heard a group of woman talking about marriage at starbucks and one of them said she wouldnt marry a guy unless he gave her a ring that was 20K. It seems like many woman arent marrying for love and just marrying for money.
That's "barbershop talk" like how nikkas in this forum act like they won't settle for anything less than a virgin 10, when in reality they're chasing after the hood's leftovers.
She'll accept any ring that comes along most likely, she was just showing off for her fellow brehettes.

In 1938, the diamond cartel De Beers began a marketing campaign that would have a major impact on engagement rings. During the Great Depression of the 1930s, the price of diamonds collapsed. At the same time, market research indicated that engagement rings were going out of style with the younger generation. While the first phase of the marketing campaign consisted of market research, the advertising phase began in 1939. One of the first elements of this campaign was to educate the public about the 4 Cs (cut, carats, color, and clarity). In 1947 the slogan "a diamond is forever" was introduced. Ultimately, the De Beers campaign sought to persuade the consumer that an engagement ring is indispensable, and that a diamond is the only acceptable stone for an engagement ring.

they got you hook line and sinker

sounds like your boy is a sucker. when I first got married, I spent a small amount on a ring. cuz I didn't have money. but it was paid for and didn't put me in debt. then later on, as my money increased, I got her a better ring :yeshrug:
