High ownership will make it much harder in places like Crown Heights and Harlem.

Crown Heights is steadily getting gentrified though...even Bay Ridge is getting gentrified. BAY RIDGE (not at the rate of other Brooklyn neighborhoods though).

Yeah, but if ownership was happeneing back in the 80s when shyt was dirt cheap, then gentrification wouldn't be so big in the first place :ld:

Black folk gotta start practice ownership where ever we go to. Can't be renting for generations on end and still feel like you have the same rights as a person that busted their ass to own a place. :manny:

Besides, no one ever came up with the solution to OWN anything in these public hearings. Only talking about why is rent so high.

If people cared about the next generation and their lives to be easier, they would try to find a place where they can pass down to their kids,rent-free.

The crack era fukked up Black America's chances of accruing generational weath....honestly I think that was the main reason the "drug war" was allowed to happen.

You think these big wigs running the shows of these cities had plan to change it overnight? No...that shyt takes DECADES of planning.

My mom came over from Haiti around 1980's...... She owns her home, my 2 sisters own their homes and I own my home. Most of the black Americans I hang out with all live in apartments. :mjcry:

Too busy going to parties and trying to buy clothes. I don't get it.....you 35 still paying rent:scust:

They are only the buffer for what is to come. I know you may not see it as such, but these people can have those "hispanics" Caribbeans, and Africans out in 60 days. I read the article and did the :what: face too but I'm able to realize that, that is NOT THEIR end-goal. :yeshrug:
Immigrants (excluding puerto ricans, who come from a welfare state, coincidence?) are not about that rent a co-op for 20 years life, they will actually make it more difficult to gentrify Harlem. And I've seen signs of AA's & PR's smarting up anyway, the idea that we are incompetents at the mercy of whites is some c00n shyt. The future of Halrem is still in Harlemites hands, if it turns into Mayonnaiseville we only have our selves to blame.

I'm getting tired hearing about.

If you hate the fact that the cost of living in NYC is very high and you want to continue living there then get a better job.

Soon nyc won't look like the NYC. The tourist will start to slow down, cause want to see the new york then been see and hearing about in movies, music, tv etc.

Or maybe the additional tax dollars coming in from the wealthier citizens living throughout the city would put to use to enhance it:ohhh:

You're Bugging, People Come Here To See Times Square, The Empire State Building And The Statue Of Liberty, Not Some Poor Muhfukkas Break Dancincing In A Park In The Bronx lol

NY Will Evolve, And The "New" New York Will Be Just As Popular As Ever, And Become Part Of A New Generations Nostalgia

I Look At What NY Was In The 70's And I Thank God I Wasn't Around But I'm Sure Somewhere There's Some Schmuck That Misses Those "Good Old Days"

Gentrification takes place because Black people are not concentrated, too scattered around thus allowing outsiders to penetrate Black areas.
